Move up targets

Description
I see two opportunities to move up in this draft for MTL.

Washington - a team kinda stuck in the middle, they need to rebuild but can't with Ovi. Do they start restocking the prospect pool or do they think they can make a playoff appearance again next year? Either way Habs can make a trade to help both scenarios

Islanders - they need prospects, pure and simple. They have the worst prospect pool in the league and MTL has a loaded one, they could take this opportunity to trade back and add futures

I'd give Washington and Islanders options on which 1st they'd want Winnipeg or Calgary's then add a young dman and additional picks should get one of them to bite

None of the pieces you have listed are targets for the caps. We don't need left defensemen, we don't need bottom pair defensemen, and we don't need NHL-AHL tweeners. We need impact forwards.

I'd agree you guys need impact forwards if you're looking to make the playoffs again but you also have a bottom 10 prospect pool that's only saved from being bottom 4 because of Leonard.

This is more of a quantity to move up idea, restock your cupboard for the future thing

No, the caps need premium prospects. They're going to do the same thing they do every year - they'll draft the guy that dropped way further than he should have, and then everyone will say "this guy should've gone top 5 / top 10" like they did with Miroshnichenko, McMichael, etc... I'd hardly call it a bottom 4 prospect pool without Leonard, that's just you not knowing who the caps have...

Between Leonard, Miroshnichenko, Suzdalev, Cristall, Chesley, Iorio, Stevenson, etc., they have plenty of quantity. The NHL team is also full of recently graduated prospects like Lapierre, McMichael, Protas, Alexyev, and there's probably another couple I'm not thinking about. They need premium top talent and they need guys who can make an impact now. A 2025 1st that will honestly probably be a lower pick than their 2024 1st is the least appetizing return for the 17th pick in this draft. Attaching a mid prospect or a veteran roster player doesn't do anything for the caps. If they're moving a first, it's going to be to move up in the draft or to acquire a young top 6/9 forward.

This would move us from 18 to 27? I think that's pretty fair. I'd rather keep 18 but we need both quality and quantity. If Lou thinks a guy at 18 is as valuable as a guy at 27, I think he does this. Harris is someone I'd take a shot at.

And that's exactly why, as a Habs fan, I wouldn't pay all this for 9 spots.
