Just a different approach...using some recent random trades as comps. Not perfect comparables, but enough to give food-for-thought so we're not staring at same old trades over and over....
This is a cool post. Caps probably only interested if they acquire/sign another LHD and at that point might just want Holtz rather than the pick. Marty is on a good contract too so deadline price could potentially be more.
I’d do that Sharks trade. Worked out well the last time we got a young Swedish right shot wing from the Devils.
I'd maybe do it, assuming they wait until they're up on the clock with pick 14 and no one they wanted fell. Although in this draft I think a surprise guy or 2 will fall to the mid teens and it'd be more worth it to select them.

And of course...probably depends on who falls to that pick.

Do us a favor. Post your own ACGM....with your own ideas of what you would like to see NJD do.
I think we should trade Lee but retaining 50% on him for mid round picks isn't something Lou would ever do. I see Hawks fan willing to take on his 7 million for 2 years if we attach a first and they'll give us a 2nd back rather do that if we trade Lee

Is 6 million dollars of cap space more or less than a 1st to you?
I see the comparisons to Dach, but Dach was the #3 pick, traded in his d+3 year, and had more NHL games under his belt. Holtz just finished his d+4 season, and has only one NHL season under his belt.
Do you contemplate role on special teams in this equation. I don’t believe Boston can get a center to replace Coyle and a third is frankly a throwaway pick. I’d rather have it than not, but not trading a cost controlled 60 point center who is outstanding on true penalty kill for one.

if we were a real contender the 7 million, but the 1st is more valuable to me given the state of this team. On a side note Ladd cost 2 2nds to dump at 5.5 and was much worse than Lee so I don't think it'll cost a first

Holtz was the #7 pick (and 8th ranked player in his draft year)
Dach was #3 (and 8th ranked player in his draft year)
Dach played on a line with Kane and Toews and produced 1.09 pts/60 even strength.
Holtz played 4th line and put up 1.83 pts/60.
Holtz has year on ELC
Dach was RFA
Dach has missed 43% of team games due to injury
Holtz just played 82-games.
Holtz didn't play regularly since his team was playing for playoffs
Dach's team weren't
Dach is 6'4" 210 lbs
Holtz is 6'7" 275 lbs
(okay, maybe not the last one)
But I think there is a case to be made that Holtz has more value
