If Lottery Nonsense Happens

Created by: areax91
Team: 2024-25 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2024
Published: May 6, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I see lots of ACGM threads assuming where we'd end up in the draft lottery. I've seen my fair share of disappointments though, so I'm creating this team in case if the worst case scenario (Chicago or Anaheim wins the lottery and #1 pick) happens to see how the Sharks can still build a solid team for tomorrow.

San Jose's Needs:
- Top 6 talent
- RH Defensemen
- Goalies

This ACGM assumes:
- Smith wants to stay in school to get a Hobey and the NCAA title
- Sharks get #2 draft pick after losing to Chicago or Anaheim
- Couture never returns to the ice and is destined for Robidas Island

I don't see Pavelski coming back to SJ even if you offered him $10m.

6 years to Joshua seems excessive

Don't worry, this isn't a great year to pick 1OA anyway. If you are going to use that good will with the league, it's better to wait till there is an actual franchise level player there.

I like Kostin but he's way overpaid for what he brings. He's not worth a 3rd to a cap strapped team like Edmonton unless he comes with 50% retained (which SJS can't do) or is part of a deal involving Campbell.

Celebrini to San Jose has to happen…just makes too much sense considering his history/ties to the city/region/organization. I think the hockey gods will comply.

Yeah, normally I wouldn't do 6 years. But he's likely looking for term and, with us ending with the wooden spoon, we're likely gonna need to overpay in term or salary to get UFAs onboard in San Jose.
