Toronto and Isles are not a fit for Marner.

We don't want him, nor do we have the cap space for his demanding 12M on his next deal which is up in a year.

Could always do Pageau and Lee without retention. Then at the TDL retain/trade Marner for a different pkg.

No that makes no sense. So we trade for him for a half a year and trade him at the deadline?? No thanks, if that's the case, Toronto can do the same thing.

The leafs had Muzzin, Murray and Klinberg on LTIR and didn't get extra cap space, so how do you think adding Price would help?

It makes sense as the Isles remove Lee and Pageau going to a contender, they will waive their NTC. Isles take on Marner then trade and retain to a contender and get assets back (and they don't get stuck signing Marner to 12+).

Leafs wouldn't be able to retain any of the Marner contract, so they need someone in between.

I'm not helping Toronto and then we have to worry at the deadline of dealing him and getting good value for him. I don't see how that helps our club to have him for a 1/2 year knowing you are going to deal him. What incentive is there for Marner? and the team? when they all know he's gone at the deadline

    Canes aren’t moving a 1st for a 3rd pairing dman and a 4th line forward.

You are removing the 22mil from Pageau and Lee for the next 2 years. That is the incentive!

and for that, we have a disfunction roster...he knows he's gone at the deadline, the players know he's gone at the deadline and so does management. Sounds like a great move for my isles.
We can move Pagaeu, my guess Lee is staying put

The Isles can do what the Habs did with Petry trade him also in the offseason before the start of the season. Sometimes making a deal to make your team better could work out. Not every trade is like Isles moving Chara or Yashin.

If you would have said no deal because "we are still mad for JT91", I would have understood. but just saying "it's not just a fit" is not a winning argument.

Marner is not a fit, plan and simple. He's a soft player, doesn't perform in the playoffs, his teammates are all over him acting like a cry baby. I'm sure Toronto can find another suitor.

And No this is not because of JT91- If Toronto wants to deal us Nylander, I'm all for it, but that's that happening from the POV of Toronto and the cost to us if he were would probably be too high.

A coach like Roy could always make Marner a playoff guy. Or bench him like Sorokin.

But if the Habs would have the opportunity to trade for Marner for Anderson or Gallaghers contract I am sure most Hab fans and other fans would be all over it.

With that theory and comment. What makes you think Toronto would take Lee and Pagaeu for Marner anyway? I'm sure there are teams out there who will give them a decent return for him .

You should on focus on the Isles, don't worry why the Leafs would do that deal. Once you understand it's not just about hockey and it's about managing contracts, then we'll bring in reasons for the other teams.

You are right, I'll focus on the isles and you can focus on the Habs......Toronto can do whatever they want. But No to Marner for us. thanks.
