At this point, I doubt we'd get Mercer alone for Markstrom without retention.

I think it's a lot more likely that CGY might use Markstrom to get a mid 1st or move up in the draft using the VAN 24' 1st as a part of the package.

FYI: NJ fans are going to hate this one, so it will be the perfect excuse to take more shots at Marky, lol.

Dawson Mercer was a hard “no” at deadline from Fitzy, so unlikely to be an option now. Holtz seemed to be a guy Conroy was happy with…so it could be a resurrected Holtz-for-Markstrom scenario if Calgary gets back into mix. But if ownership doesn’t want to trade him, not much we can do from NJ side.

I just find it funny when fans start taking a dump on an opposing team's player as though we're negotiating actual trades infront of an arbiter.

Mercer is so overrated by Devils fans. He couldn't even win a spot at center this year over Hualaa or Nosek and Holtz took the spot at 2nd line RW. He's following in the footsteps of Zacha and Sharangovich before him. He'll likely be moved the same way those two were to make room for the next young player they believe is way better than he actually is. The funny part is I'd rank them Zacha > Sharangovich > Mercer but NJ keeps moving the bigger better player and keeping the smaller cheaper one.

Fwiw I 'take dumps' on Markström and his perceived value on this board because I like to interrogate and refute ideas presented on a topics that I love - the NHL and the New Jersey Devils.
Also, I've been hating on Markström ever since 07-08 and not gonna stop now when he's being mocked to my favorite team for ludicrous returns.
