Marner is a lot of things, and of of them is an elite passer....

When the Habs have what looks to be an elite power forward, having an elite passer just might take him to another level.

And I would suggest Xjekah, Barron, plate 1st and a cap dump to make it work is pretty much a walk for nothing kind of deal.

You need to male the playoffs. Marner probably does the trick. The rest of the roster once there could be very interesting to watch.

Fair commentary. But I think the facts remain that freeing up cap space maybe the real value in any deal. I cannot see a trade being made for market value. Not at this stage with 1 year left.

No, winning a Cup is Habs goal, making playoffs Five years in a row and losing in 1-2 rounds is abject failure. Making playoffs once in 5 years but winning the Cup just that one time is success. Marner is a proven choker in playoffs.
