This post perfectly illustrates the problem Toronto now faces: all of these players are essentially untradeable not because their value is low but because it is too high. No team is willing to pay the price shown no matter which Maple Leaf is offered in the deal.

Truer words were seldom spoken.
Thanks Bud.
Here's a scenario. The Leafs trade Nylander to Montreal who have cap space....for Calgary's 2025 first rounder. Marner see the writing on the wall, and accepts a trade to Utah for a first rounder
Matthews doesn't want to stick around for a Leaf rebuild. Accept a trade to the Hawks for a 2025 first rounder and the Leafs 2025 first rounder (maybe more)
Leafs kinda tank in 24/25 due to lack of good players....
Start the true rebuild in summer of 2025 when Tavaras is gone too. Lots of cap to remake the team and having four first rounders.
Leafs fans will say "That's not enough return". But gotta consider players NMCs and what teams have the cap to take on those contracts.
I'd would love being a GM with 47m in four players gone to rebuild the team.
