A serious Marner trade

Created by: letsgoblues1967
Team: 2024-25 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 30, 2024
Published: Apr. 30, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
TOR fans like to make ridiculous trade ideas to try to dump Marner. But here is a deal the Blues would consider. TOR gets rid of Marner in exchange of a player of similar skill at half the price. In return the Blues get a defenseman and a first to help with the retool.

Marner would be the best player to put on a Blues sweater since Hull

I get why fans don't want him because of his contract term but Blues fans on here need to stop acting like they have a team that's going to be a contender anytime soon. They need a Marner, they need an offensive star that's more than Thomas and I get this isn't the way to do it but pretending like they don't need him is equally delusional to me

I personally would rather have Buch on my team. I think highly of Marner too, I just really really like Buch.

He's a great player, but I think the Blues would consider moving him to get extra assets to help with the retool. Marner isn't really a step down either. the key to the trade is the value in terms of cost of production. The Leafs get great $/point value in the trade and pay for it with a defenseman and a first.

If this was an actual trade the Blues would be silly to decline lol. I think Marner is more talented I just like Buch skillset more though.

I think Toronto has shown that having Marner doesn’t equal success. Marker doesn’t play our style of hockey, is the main reason no one wants him. Just go watch the Boston series, he’s terrified of the corners and the physical play. Fans in St. Louis think Kyrou is soft. I can’t imagine getting Marner at his price, they’d want to run him out of town.

Both these deals are stupidly favorable to STL.

Hed put up 95 points and elevate Thomas to a 90 point player, after that the fans would be pretty happy

Now leafs fans will say this trade ridicilus but now you understand how blues fans feel about your trades to blues.
Blues sont have pure goalscorer on roster (kyrou dont have it). Look for team with goalscoring winger.

Look, is Marner going to fetch the biggest return in history? No

But are the equivalents of 2 1sts going the wrong here? Absolutely

Marner is not a good fit for the Blues given what we currently have, currently lack, and our cap structure.

But it’s crazy to me how a guy with his recent production and playing in Toronto has somehow become one of the most underrated players in the league on here.

If you can fit either player in your lineup, and be a competitive team, in a vacuum itd be absolutely ridiculous to pick Buchnevich over Marner.
