Habs take the Ducks deal in 0.1 seconds flat. It'll go down in history as the fastest trade of all time.

Your GM literally just said he needed to add a puck moving RHD, that's what Barron is

But there is a far better one at 3 named Levshunov.

And he could probably pry Barron from MTL for a 2nd round pick.

There are a bunch of high tier RHD in this draft though. Moving up with MTL is harmless because you know their going with a forward, so if you have Levshunov and Parekh on the same tier then you're guaranteed to get one and you add a young rostered RHD to fill an immediate hole.

Either way you're getting a top pairing RHD, it just depends if Anaheim is dead set on RHD or have a forward that they think is better than every dman

Verbeek is unlikely to trade dowm - He'll just pick who he wants.

He also specifically said "top 4" of which Barron is clearly not.

Barron is 22 and has that kind of upside.

Had, as in past tense. His most valuable asset was waivers protection which is gone. As of today, he is, and is trending to be, a bottom 4 D. He's an upgrade on the guy we took off waivers but that's it.

We're also looking for a guy who is top 4 now, not could be top 4 later. Push from the top down, not shuffle third pairing guys and adding yet another rookie to the D line.
