I like everything except the Chychrun deal…why not just sign a guy…maybe Dillon? And keep the picks for TDL.

I think Chychrun can QB a PP. Who can do that as good as him that's available in free agency? He also can be got for cheap because Ottawa is looking to move on from him. With Matthews still in the fold this team can win now. It's about surrounding him with the right pieces. And getting a true PP QB should be top of the list, along with a proven goalie and a veteran, experienced coach. There's no true number 1 goalie available via free agency, so that has to happen via trade.

He made one costly mistake tonight but he hasn't been bad this series. I'm impressed with the guy's work ethic. His skating and timing improved over the course of the season.

It's a short list because there aren't that many capable names out there. Berube, Quenneville if he's cleared to come back by the NHL, Mike Sullivan if Dubas fires him.

He's obviously not an everyday player at this point. But he still has his qualities. But I understand your frustration. The 4th line has to be flawless and be able to chew up minutes. Reaves failed to do that.

he plays 7 minutes a night and gives up goals and doesn't even PK.
like why is he there..... to play "tough guy" "wanna fight about it"......
this is why they can't win games.

ANA fan here. You can’t do conditional deals on signing an extension anymore

While some ANA fans don’t like the idea of adding Marner for the $12M he’s going to ask for, I’m not opposed. The trade value is a huge gray area though since we’d be trading for a pending UFA, and we don’t have huge ambitions next year, so it all relies on an extension

Yea, pinning down Marner's trade value is an impossible task at this point because he can control his landing spot. Ideally the Leafs pull off a Tkachuk type deal. Maybe Zegras and a 1st come back in the trade along with a guy like Fowler if he's also willing to waive.

The problem for me is he doesn’t play dirty enough to justify his role. He's too much of a "pro's pro" where he only takes on other teams tough guys. I think I remember only 5 hits that he threw all season that had an impact. He isn't greasy enough. And obviously as you said he can't PK, score, or play defense. He's just there to face other enforcers. But he's signed to a 3 year contract so he's probably on the team next year.

Hard pass for ANA. Zegras at $5.7M > Marner at $12M any day imo. Marner is easily the better player rn, but not for $7M more. Doing that solves zero problems for ANA anyways. The hole we fill at RW comes with a new gap at LW

I wouldn’t touch any core player for him as a pending UFA. Fowler, Lacombe, EDM 1st, Vatrano, Vaak, all those types of guys, sure. But if the ask is someone like Z, Leo, McT, Minty, Zell, Gauthier, Terry, ANA ‘24 1st, then nah. And I totally get why TOR might just go elsewhere if that’s the case, and I’d be cool with that. I don’t think Marner to ANA is likely at all

There is no issue that he doesn't want to go after other players. He's seen enough of that in his career to know better than to be that guy.
At 37 years old, he doesn't really want to fight anyone anyway.
He's an aged out player who is just collecting a check. He should be sent to the AHL to finish it out.

I agree. The experiment should be over next year. I wanted the Leafs to get a guy like Hathaway or Motte, they're more useful.

The Flyers are just starting their rebuild and Nylander will be in his 30’s when Michkov gets here. Makes no sense and they would decline

Anaheim makes sense for me because 1) they're getting ready to win and Marner is still young enough to contribute and be a mega point producer for that team, and 2) it's as far away from Toronto as you can get, which I think would help Marner mentally and personally. He needs a change of scenery, a team with cap space, and a team with a young core that's looking to win. Him, Carlsson, McTavish, and Gauthier would a form a deadly forward core.

Nylander will age like wine. The Flyers need offense. They were in on Gaudreau two years ago so they're ready to spend big money on a winger. I also think Nylander is the type of player who will excel under Torts because he's man enough to take criticism.

They totally would. And from the ANA pov I’d gladly take him, but not for the cost of even Zegras alone, or any other core piece

No he probably won’t. No we don’t need offense we are rebuilding. Yes we were in on Johnny when Chuck delusionally thought this team was good, Briere knows it isn’t. No we aren’t ready to spend big on a winger. We have loads of wingers and no centers and Briere just said we aren’t targeting big free agents or spending assets on players that aren’t young.

So yeah like I said no.

I think Buffalo takes that deal, they're looking for a veteran 3rd line C. I'm not sure Tavares waives his no move.

Nylander just signed an extension with a fat NMC, why the hell would he waive it now? Plus the rebuilding Flyers need to keep the 1st rounders.
