Description

Habs trade back the CAL flame pick - letting the flames begin the tear down in time to draft Misa and McKinna.

Habs draft Iginla at 5OVR, then with the Flame's pick, they pick up BPA - could be Eiserman, Yaremchuck - or anyone that slips down...

Send down Anderson to Laval and hopes he reacts like Armia.

Calgary isn't the team to target to move up. I'd look at Pittsburgh or Detroit who are likely wanting to be better immediately and not wait a couple years for prospects.

I think the logic is sound for Calgary to want to regain control of their first round pick ahead of their rebuild.

Calgary isn't doing that. Pretty good chance Florida is a playoff team next year and they send that pick if their pick is top 10.

Detroit wouldn't be interested in that. They aren't looking to "get better now" at the cost of the future.

That's illogical, you're basically saying they should give up a top 10 pick now in a strong draft so that they might be able to save a top 10 pick later?

It doesn’t matter, we’ll probably end up with a top ten pick next season as well, and keep our pick anyways. The Florida pick will go to Montreal instead as compensation.

So many Habs fans do not understand the conditions of that pick - they all think they are getting Calgary's top 10 1st rounder next year.

But the way it works is if CGY picks in the top 10 next year (pretty much a certainty considering they are this year, and that was with Lindholm, Tanev and Hanifin) and FLA is not in the top 10 (again pretty much a certainty) then MTL gets the FLA pick.

So in short MTL is getting the FLA pick next year not the CGY pick! So stop trying to trade us a pick that we are already going to have!!!
