Would be insane for Boston to decline when you can run:

Lindholm-McAvoy
Chychrun - Carlo
Lohrei - whoever

If Ullmark is open to Ottawa in exchange for an immediate extension (which none of us knows either way), I believe Boston would accept this deal.

Chychrun would excel in Boston with the supporting cast and defensive system in place, not to mention a solid tender in Swayman to hold the fort.

Boston would need to add, Chych has more value than ullmark

Ullmark is the considerably better player at this stage in his career and I don’t believe Chych has better value after last year. Both are probably worth a first and a third in 2025 considering their contract

Gs are worth the least of all positions, Ulmark has less value than chych because he is a G

Value is a function of available talent at the position

There are more replacement level goalies available on the open market than replacement level defenseman. If your objective is to play in that realm, you are correct. Teams seem open to do that and it can work. It can also fail miserably as we’ve seen with playoff caliber talent teams not in the playoffs.

If your objective is to secure a premium goaltender from a team without cap issues, you are likely paying for it.

Still doesn’t change the fact that Ullmark is the best statistical goalie over the past two years and Chych is coming off a bad year.
