Trades
1.
BUF
  1. Coleman, Blake
  2. 2025 3rd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Calgary seems almost certain they are in for some kind of rebuild. Coleman is a player that will be coveted by teams and a player Calgary may not necessarily need in a rebuild. Jokiharju gives much needed experience and youth on Flames D. Rosen is a strong prospect, full of speed, sick mitts and crafty playmaking skills that can help a Calgary team in need of creativity and offense.
CGY
  1. Jokiharju, Henri [RFA Rights]
  2. Rosén, Isak
  3. 2024 2nd round pick (BUF)
  4. 2025 4th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Coleman is the exact type of player the Sabres need moving forward. He brings PK expertise, a gritty, hard-nosed attitude, the willingness to do whatever it takes to win and a Stanley cup pedigree and experience. You can play Coleman anywhere you need in the Sabres lineup.
2.
BUF
  1. 2024 5th round pick (NSH)
Additional Details:
Chicago adds a defenseman with multiple seasons of NHL experience and could be a good mentor for a very young defensive core in Chicago. He can be a number 6-7 defenseman and valuable in case of injury for an elevated role.
CHI
  1. Bryson, Jacob [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Bryson does not factor into any long term plans for the Sabres moving forward. He has had arguably his best year with the team after getting lots of playing time since the Samuelsson injury. He has been solid in a limited role of 11-14 minutes per night. The Sabres in this trade just look to get something of value instead of non tendering him.
3.
BUF
  1. Danault, Phillip
  2. 2026 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
The Kings are a team that had around $22 million next season, but has multiple RFA that will be due raises, the need to sign 2 goalies and rebuild half their D-core. The Kings most likely don't want to move Danault, but with the offer the Sabres put forth and the need to save/open up more money to help build their team out for the future.
LAK
  1. Komarov, Vsevolod
  2. Krebs, Peyton [RFA Rights]
  3. 2025 1st round pick (BUF)
  4. 2026 4th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Another move the Sabres have the ability to make due to the amount of prospects they have acquired and draft picks they've had. Krebs has been proven to be a good 3rd/4th liner who can play any position. Would add some grit to LA and a player who can be used for solid depth. Komarov immediately adds a high end defensive prospect with high offensive upside and skill. Sabres are in a great position to give up a 1st round pick due to their already full cupboard of talent. Danault is another player the Sabres need. 2 way foward with grit and skill, can be used on any line and at any position. Brings leadership and valuable playoff experience.
4.
BUF
  1. Donato, Ryan
  2. 2026 2nd round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
This deal ads offense, a great locker room guy and a player who can help with Bedards development. The Hawks will benefit from this deal on and off the ice.
CHI
  1. Skinner, Jeff
  2. 2024 4th round pick (PHI)
  3. 2025 2nd round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
2025 2nd round pick is conditional, if Sabres make the playoffs, pick becomes 2026 1st. As much as we all love Skinny, he is on the backside of his career and holding up the Sabres pipeline a bit. With the amount of money his cap hit is, he is nearly untradeable unless the right deal and team is out there, that is where the Blackhawks come in. They have plenty of cap room and need to hit the cap floor, but also an offensive infusion like Skinners can help speed up that Chicago rebuild. The Sabres are not going to get much of a return as the Hawks will take on Skinners full salary. Sabres sweeten the pot with conditional pick that can become a 1st in 2026.

I like the idea of Coleman or Danault, probably not both. Moving skinner would cost at least one first rounder with no condition and it’s not really worth it. The dude is injured let him rest this off-season and he’ll be fine as LW2 next season.

Also, if Adams wants long term security… bring in a new coach. Donny isn’t it

Hawks decline both of those deals. Bryson isn't a guy the Hawks would take for free. He literally fills no need the Hawks have on their blue line. I'd imagine he doesn't get a qualifying offer so he'll be a UFA July 1st. No need for any team to waste a pick on him. Skinner likely isn't waiving for Chicago. But even if he did, the 3rd year on Skinner's contract is probably a deal breaker in a trade to the Hawks. And he's not a $9m player anyway, so a pick swap isn't enough to move him.

Rob Blake isn't ABOUT to trade Phillip Danault. His acquisition is what Blake points to every time someone mentions Pierre-Luc DuBois. And Trevor Moore -- Danault -- Viktor Arvidsson/Kevin Fiala has been our most productive and consistent forward line since January 1, 2023 -- that's right, 2023, not 2024. That's over a season and a half of excellence.

I think hawksguy was a little too nice. That skinner offer is absolutely insane. No team is taking on 27 mil in cap without getting multiple unprotected first rounders as compensation. Everyone knew that skinner deal was a mistake the second it was signed. Buffalo is stuck with him for a couple more seasons unless they plan on retaining half his cap.

That is an extremely solid return for him, I can't imagine why he wouldn't be for sale

Whether we like him or not, Adams is here to stay for like 5+ years / whenever Pegula dies
