If Zegras is going to the Yotes then Cooley is coming back in the trade. Otherwise we can just agree that you keep your guy and we'll keep ours.

Arizona probably adds at least one more piece, like one of their seconds this year or next, and probably a third or fourth as well. Sixth overall in a draft top ten full of Verbeek bait isn't something to turn your nose up at.

I think Anaheim management takes that offer for Zegras. 7th overall gives them a really good young player to replace Z and they use the $5.75M (plus other cap space) in free agency to add a significant player to help improve their team in the short term too.

We've got 34 million in cap space next season and no one internally is due for a big raise until McTavish the year after, we're not hurting for Zegras' money.

If Barrett Hayton didn't turn into a top 6 forward at 5OA, we've no reason to trust that the player taken with the yotes pick will either, so we'll need to be compensated for the risk we are taking moving on from a known top 6 offensive weapon.

Nah. ANA just keeps Zegras, but at least you tried with something valuable here. Zegras was taken around the pick ARI will likely have, but 100% of the risk that the pick busts (which is like 30%) is gone. He’s a locked in top 6 C/W who had 2 60+pt seasons on his ELC and is back on a point-per-game pace after returning from injury. No reason to move him for someone who’s ceiling is likely around where Zegras is right now
