Athanasiou needs much better contract. That is not enough.

They are saying they would like to get him signed for 2years at 1.5 million, I would like that for 3 years, I was just throwing a number out their, would you think that 1.5 work?

Judging by some of this years RFA contacts, I wouldn't be surprised to see it over 2 million AAV.

I could see Pittsburgh being interested in Sheahan and offering much more than a 5th. Think 3rd plus one of their wingers like Wilson

Detroit is going to need to move Nyquist or Adelkader. They still have Larkin to deal with next summer. Remember, Franzen cannot go on LTIR until after the season starts. So they will be over the cap.

10% cap inflation should make them still good on cap

Considering he notched 18 goals in limited action I'd assume his contract will be on the same level as guys like Boone Jenner after their ET contracts expired; I wouldn't be surprised by 2.5-3.0 for 3-5 years

I could see multiple things happen, I think they will AA at a lower rate because they have more control over him as a RFA, I also think they could get more for Sheahan it was just an idea, there is also an option that they could use the 48 hour buyout window that they get from having a player to file for arbitration, here is a good article: https://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2017/7/21/16012886/detroit-has-48-hour-buyout-window-but-will-they-use-it

No we don't, You can be up to 10% over the cap during the summer. More then likely Sproul, Coreau and Frk will be put on waivers. We should be fine.
