You could waive Zadina, Boston would not claim him for free.

You could retain half of Labanc's contract and CHI still wouldn't even take him for free.

DO NOT TRADE EMBERSOM! Him and Ferraro are our best D pair by A LOT! At some point you have to stop selling off and start building. And with 30 mil in cap next year and 50 in 25/25 sharks don’t need to sell anything off! They can for the right pieces but don’t sell just to sell.

If you’re in the early stages of a rebuild and you can turn a waiver pickup into a 3rd round pick in half a season you do it.

With the Hawks expecting to get injured players back this week, there is absolutely no reason to take on Labanc unless they are being draft pick compensated to do so.

We’re not in the early stages though we’re in the middle and if you find a waiver claim that could potential be a top 4 Braun type D you hold onto him!

The Sharks have the worst roster in the NHL and a prospect pipeline that’s probably not even in the top 10 in the league. They’re 4 to 5 years away from contention if everything goes well.

I'd keep Emberson, Blackwood, Bailey, and Ohotiuk. I wouldn't let Ferraro go for less than a 2nd.

Trade Granlund (for a 2nd) and Rutta (for a 4th) if possible.

We are in the early stages of a rebuild, but keep at least one goalie and some young, good players.

Our pipeline is in fact too 10, with 2-3 1sts one being likely top 3 this year, by the start of 25 sharks should have a top 5 to top 3 prospect pool and 45+ mil in cap space to add pieces with. We’re not as bad as it looks, this year was bad by design and set to evaluate lesser talent and find hidden gems likely same for next year as well, then in 25 with roughly 45 mil to spend sharks can start adding pieces where needed and by 26/27 should be considered a playoff contender on the rise!

Middle stage! We’ve torn it down traded most our valuable assets and built up our prospect to to a respectable level (#9-13 depending on the scout) 2-3 1st depending on NJD and 3-4 top 40 picks in 24 plus likely another top 10/ top 5 in 25 should give the sharks a top 5 prospect pool and with 45 mil in cap space and most bad contracts cleared up they will be ready to start building this team up.

Just look at Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroit. Tearing the team down for picks and prospects is the easy part (which the Sharks kind of screwed up and set themselves back a bit with the Hertl extension). The hard part is building the team back into a contender and the improvement isn’t always linear.

There you go! You pointed out the teams that tore it to the ground and can’t get back to the playoffs!

The best rebuilds in the past have vet leaders and mentors and you infuse the rookies into the lineup as they are ready rather than thrust them into the lineup!!!
Arizona, Anaheim, Ottawa, and Buffalo got rid of all traces of their past and it takes forever to build back a good culture. Hertl and Couture bring leadership and we’re part of the last very successful sharks clubs! Kids listen to them and lean on them when needed!
Beyond that the sharks still need to spend to the cap floor anyways so what’s the rush to dump the good players!
Yes goodbye Vlasic, Labanc, Hoffman, Lindblom, Simek etc. but Embersom, Thrun, Zetterlund, Eklund, Mukhamadulin, & Will Smith need to stay and be built around then when we have better players and no room we can dump the guys who don’t hit their potential.
