EP40 in 2024

Created by: Hockey_Soul

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 27, 2023
Published: Nov. 2, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If an EP trade is going to happen it will be in the summer when he makes clear that he doesn't want to re-sign. KJ is kind of giving me RyJo Vancouver boy vibes, and I'm afraid he's going to wind up wanting out in a few years anyway like so many others have done. Alternatively, Scandinavians love Columbus so I think Petey would fit right in.

The only way I see Columbus keeping Roslovic is if he gives the team a hometown discount. He's been overpaid the past two years, so maybe he considers it to stay.

In two years, Gubranson's money goes to Jiricek and Laine's goes to Fantilli.

Yeah you'd be paying Elvis $4mil for the next 3 years though, and CBJ would get relief from Vanecek coming off the books after this season. I think it is pretty close to a win-win.

I guess if Petey forces his way out, this is a good foundation to reset. Without Petey, Canucks would have no choice but to reset.

I appreciate that CBJ fans put together packages that would be reasonable and attractive in a Petey trade if they can't sign, which is always the caveat. Although, you know, CBJ are also one of the few teams that actually have the assets to make the trade.

That's probably around what it takes to get it done and makes sense as a potential trade from the Canucks perspective. If you got this done you would have an amazing team.

I think your biggest concern is convincing Petey to sign there. He's been very clear about his desire to compete and there's been some suggestion that he wants to win where it really matters. It's tough because your coaching situation makes you look like a **** show right now so you would need to turn it around by the end of the season to have any chance.

This is a 2024 ACGM, so one year of Vanecek for 3 of Elvis. CBJ retains 25% and give NJD a 2nd. It's really pretty fair. Elvis has been good in the past too, so a change of scenery could do him good.

NJD also doesn't have a 2024 2nd, so this could happen at the draft if there is a player on the board the Devils want.
