It's a shame he never got his big opportunity to play with McDavid in Edmonton.... easily would have scored 70 points.

They haven't been an NHL regular in half a decade. HOWEVER, at worse he's an injury call-up with 400+ games of NHL experience. That's worth a 2-way contract.

Despite him being a family friend, I find it odd he got a contract while all of these decent NHL options are getting PTO's

Yeah, there's a few interesting PTOs out there. Anybody have any stats on what percentage of them actually get signed?
