Don't like the idea for trading jarnkrok to begin with: Matthews loves playing with Jarnkrok and obviously not trading him for a cap dump... Leafs say no in so many ways

Throw out Granlund and change the 5th to a 4th.

Now while you’re breaking it down for all of us, tell us how the Leafs, who are already over the cap, should be making this trade to further worsen their cap situation lol

Jankrok isn't on the Leafs trading table, despite all the ACGMs making him an easy cash dump.

And he's really not a cap dump. How much do you really save after you replace Jarnkrok in the lineup. Maybe 1.1m saved.

Kinda of a ridiculous statement by homer Victor. Pens can keep their aging expensive players.....Granlund, Rakell, Letting, Petry

Jarnkrok is far better than Granlund at this point. Jarnkrok is average in terms of his impact offensively and defensively, and he's had some good finish this season along with a bit of PK utility. Granlund is a liability on both sides of the puck, especially in the defensive zone, and he's lost any of the finishing touch he had early in his career. That 5mil price tag is UGLY, in my opinion it's complete poison in terms of trading for him. Jarnkrok isn't a regular top 6 guy, but at 2.1mil he's easily worth the price tag for a guy who can give you bottom six goal support and that you know isn't gonna hurt your team in any meaningful way.

Penguins fans understand all of this more than anyone. The point being, ACGMs are inundated with the Jarnkrok to PIT trades ever since Dubas was hired. From my perspective, I'd happily trade Carter for him as well. But he's even worse than Granlund.

ACGMs should have the Leafs sending Dubas all the similar small tiny dancers prospects he Drafted. The Leafs don't need a half dozen of the same style forward.

PIT doesn't have any prospects so any prospects will be a welcome change.

Jarnkrok is available in trade talks actually. & they’ve taken some calls on him but they were waiting for the arbitration hearing decision before choosing what to do. But he’s definitely available

Saving $1.3 million isn't gonna solve the cap problem, any trade talk concerning him probably adds in to a bigger trade, but not a 1 player trade cash dump so many on this site post.

Where are you getting $1.3M from? Jarnkrok has a $2.1M cap hit. & they’ve looked at moving him for a pick and a AHL player to bounce back and forth with the Leafs. No team has taken it yet though

Lol this is not understanding the cap at all. Grandlund is a negative value because he has another year at 5. Honestly still so shocking Pitt made this move. It was wild.

Moving Jarnkrok means you need a replacement player, so $2.1 minus the replacement player's 800K equals $1.3 million saved, hardly worth doing.

They have players on the roster to fill his spot. They don’t need to acquire a roster player for him. Plus they have to clear a little under $2.1m in cap - hence why they’ve taken calls on him

So create a 21 man roster with Jankrok and trade him away for picks, than add a Marlie to continue with a 21 man roster, tell me how much money you saved.

The answer is $1.3 million.

Yes you can create a 20 man roster and dump Jankrok to create a 22 man roster with the savings.

Glad I struck a nerve.

My main point is that Jarnkrok is not someone the Pens are interested in trading for. If they were, they would have instead of trading for Smith or signing Eller.

So Leafs fans, stop shopping him here. Unless you want Granlund.
