Overpaying to keep as much of the cup winning team around as possible, very risky

Hes a good goalie but keeping what he had going in the playoffs for 82 games is very unlikely.

VGS just shot their own foot with this signing. Hill is being over payed here 100%. I thought Hill at max would get at Least 3 mil at the max for a contract bot getting 5 mil is too much. I'll eat my words if he proves me wrong and keeps playing like he did in the playoffs.

Easily moveable because of the short term. Fine signing

I honestly see this as a W. If my team won a cup, I would care less what the team pays

Playing behind the best defense and defensive coaching in the world most certainly impacted his numbers. Vegas is going to regret this signing before long. He's not a $5M goalie.

At least it's not a long contract, that might be their only saving grace.

Hard to judge a contract for the team that just won the cup. And has been extremely successful since entering the league. We shall I guess. But so far I’d say the biggest winner is Adin Hill.

Good deal, he was great this year and it’s a 2 year contract so regression won’t kill them cap wise

I like term. If this pushes LT off the roster, though, it’s absolutely terrible.

That's wayyy too much for a goalie who is only a reliable backup. Sure he pulled you thru a cup run, but how's a full season of him look?

Part of me says this is a foolish overpay, and the other says he just played a huge role in winning the cup, pay him his due. It’s only two years and putting your name on the Cup is forever. It’s the honorable thing to do.

Cup tax and all, Murray got a 3x$3.75 deal and Bennington 2x$4.4M.

They paid inflation on market price, probably to keep the team's fragile confidence.

And a short term because they will get rid of him ASAP if his star starts to dwindle, like Fleury and Lehner (soon)..

I guess this means Lehner is not coming back, one way or another (permanent LTIR or cap dump). The 2-year term is good because it lines up with Thompson's term and it gives them the flexibility to do something different after that, which they probably will want to, if history is any indication. Thompson and Hill should be a pretty good tandem for the next two years at less than $6M combined, and having Thompson helps protect them in case Hill turns out to be just a flash in the pan (which I don't think he is, but I wouldn't bet $10M on it).

His Saves Above Expected was 0.9 last regular season. He was okay during the regular season and a God during the playoffs. If he goes back to his regular season performance, then this will be a huge over-payment.

In a vacuum, this isn't a bad signing. After all, he just won the Stanley Cup. However, the Golden Knights still need to sign one more forward and now they have very little cap room. Also, if he reverts to his regular season form, then they team could be in trouble. They should still make the playoffs, but it won't be as easy.
