Price For Hamonic Too Good Not To Trade Tanev

Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Lehtonen, Kari
  2. 2018 1st round pick (DAL)
  3. 2019 1st round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
Dallas doesn't act on Tanev. They need a left shot to play with Klingberg and Edler has experience with him through Team Sweden.
DAL
  1. Edler, Alexander
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Edler waves his no trade to play for a contender. VAN's 3rd round pick (possibly a 2nd) upgrades to a 1st in order to take on Lehtonen or Neimi's contract.
2.
VAN
  1. Point, Brayden
  2. 2018 1st round pick (TBL)
  3. 2018 2nd round pick (TBL)
  4. 2019 2nd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
The same return for Hamonic plus a swap of small centers with Point having proven himself in the big league last year. But Tanev > Hamonic IMO and if Tyler Johnson resigns, do you really hold on to two centers at this size?
TBL
  1. Cassels, Cole
  2. Tanev, Christopher
  3. 2018 6th round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
If Hamonic can command that type of return, VAN has to act. Yzerman isn't one to be pushed around, but one can hope right? Point might not be able to make it as a center in the Western conference but he's a right shot and VAN needs some scoring from that side of the ice.
3.
VAN
  1. Orpik, Brooks
  2. 2018 3rd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
WSH Just signed Oshie to 5.75M cap hit, they also need to resign Orlov, Kuznetsov, and resign/replace other FA's like Alzner and Williams. Moving Orpik (36yrs old) would allow them to keep Alzner and it comes at a cost. WSH gets back Biega for 3rd pairing on the right side (in case Bowey isn't ready to make the jump yet) and flexibility in the playoffs (He can dress as a forward as well).
WSH
  1. Biega, Alex
  2. Sautner, Ashton
Additional Details:
VAN looks to take on a bad contract for a left handed D after moving Edler (Staal in NYR might be an option too, although they just cleared Stepan). Orpik only has 2yrs left though and no NTC which would allow VAN to flip him if a contender comes calling.
4.
VAN
  1. 2018 6th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
STL lost some toughness trading Reaves. They gain that back for a minor draft pick.
STL
  1. Dorsett, Derek ($950,000 retained)
5.
VAN
  1. Gáborík, Marián
  2. 2020 1st round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Megna is a bigger LA type player and really they are paying to clear Gaborik's contract here. It doesn't really matter what's coming back does it?

LA will respectfully decline. By the time 2020 rolls around Gaborik will be retired (hopefully) and it would be wise for Rob Blake to keep his draft picks, considering how lucky we got with Vilardi falling so far.

The way I see it, LA needs prospects in the next two drafts but using 2020 picks to clear Gaborik off the books in the here and now, gives LA the chance to engage in some more efficient FA spending. Keeps the team competitive while Kopitar and Doughty are young. Maybe keeps Doughty from running to Toronto. But yeah, maybe more realistic if it's Brown's contract? Also, don't remind the Canucks fans that don't like the Petterssen pick. Many wanted either Glass or Vilardi. Vilardi could be outworking Petterssen in a few years if the kid doesn't add some size and grit.

why does meme warrior say Petterseen need grit? size is understandable, it's obvious, but have you seen him play and does he lack "grit'?
