Keeping the same roster would be a better idea than giving tarasenko 5x$6m...

If Sorokin keeps playing like he usually does you'll still be a playoff team. But if he keeps playing like he usually does he is getting a HUGE extension.

Run it back, they had a good team. Injuries took their toll. Full season of Horvat. Could be a playoff team this year.

Didn't Lou already say they are running it back, I think he meant it, save trading one of the centers potentially.

Yeah, I know he said that, but he’ll still need to fill Bailey’s old spot somehow. Also, running it back with Mayfield doesn’t solve any of our problems; we already have plenty of physicality.

Not a bad idea to bring back Mayfield depending on price point of course. I don't think he will overpay to keep him around. If they can trade Pageau or Nelson (for a defence equivalent, then maybe they don't resign Mayfield.)

Honestly, I think it (signing a scoring winger like Tarasenko) depends on if he could swing a big deal or else he tries to sign Tarasenko like here.

Islanders trading Pageau or Nelson to sign Tarasenko is one of the dumbest things ive ever heard

I never said that...although I don't blame you, that sentence is incomplete. It was meant to say if they can trade Nelson or Pageau for a defence equivalent, then maybe they don't resign Mayfield.

The last part refers to acquiring a scoring winger.

Ok I agree with that. Still wouldn’t trade either Center. Center depth and Defense wins championships. Islanders need an upgrade on D but have some of the best Center depth in the NHL

I think if they are confident that Barzal could move back to C (especially if they can find a winger that can take draws for him if they don't have one already), then giving up one might not be a bad option especially if they are landing a guy like Pesce.

If they could land pesce I would trade JGP all day and then sign a cheap 3rd line center like Towes. Wouldn’t move nelson though.
