Interesting on Hertl. I like that deal for Calgary and I think the Sharks are happy to shed the contract.

Even on a final year contract, the Jackets would need to add at a minimum another decent pick (2nd or 3rd rounder or so) and a decent young player or prospect (Matechyk, Peeke, Boqvist, Bean) to land Lindholm, but in return would need a signed extension prior to the trade (similar to Provorov deal).

What do the Sharks get in return for their #1C? Two of those players have NTC's and aren't going to waive them to go to San Jose. Three of them are over thirty and like you said, 4 of them are on expiring UFA contracts. They are as unlikely to resign with SJ as they are with Calgary so we would essentially be trading a #1 center for.... Daniel Vladar....

I don't buy the premise that the Sharks are eager to shed Hertl's contract. Certainly not if we're getting nothing in return. Also I seriously doubt he waives to go to Calgary.
