LOL

You must be on that good good man — Slaf would go at like 8 or 9 overall in this draft and you think we are trading you 2OA for sim and a future 2nd?! LOL

Ha, ha, No. From our point of view, a "fair" trade is #2 overall = #5 overall, Nick Suzuki and Kaiden Guhle.

Its a question of need. Slaf is a rare bread and u guys need a big winger. It cant be that far of… switch the second for a late first or an a- prospect fitting your need (mesar? Kapanen? Farrel? )

Truth is, the cost it would take would be too much for mtl snd what mtl would be willing to offer too low for ducks. Thats why those trade never happen wink

No he wouldn’t. The top 6 players in the draft all have higher ceilings than Slafkovsky

Absurd.

Fantilli has a higher ceiling than any single player on the Habs. It’s more absurd to think that Anaheim would ever move that pick

I would have a hard time selecting him betweeen 4-6 in his own draft, with Cooley, Wright, Nemec, Korchinski, Hutson, and Jiricek, all being better prospects imo, let alone 4-6 in a much stronger draft class

I think you guys over in Montreal are missing the Crux of the issue.

There is no "fair" trade that gets you 2OA. Anaheim wants to make the pick as badly as you want to acquire it. That dictates you need to offer a package sufficiently enticing that we are willing to make the trade. That trade will inherently NOT be a fair trade.

Good starting point is Dach + 5OA + 31 OA

Honestly, I would do 5th, 31st and 2024 1st round pick (MTL) top 5 protected. And just take Matvei Mitchkov with that.

I agree

The Slafkovsky + a 2nd rounder is unrealistic, but to say Suzuki (a 65 point guy on a very poor offensive team) + Guhle + #5 overall (another 65 point player at least) for Fantilli makes even less sense.

Fantilli is not the next Mario.

100 point ceiling is low, damn. Top 6 this draft if Michkov slides, but your saying you rather Moore, Dvorsky, ASP over Slaf? I’m not saying he will get 100, but thats his ceiling.
He has every tool in the box to hit that. Expect at least 80 in his prime and Conn Smyth level playing in the playoffs. Even Leonard that I love and would draft him 5 this year, I rather Slaf. I’d even debate that Smith v Slaf would be a positional and play style choice. The hate for Slaf is so well setup for him to pull a Jack Hughes in front of y’all noses

Yes, the definition of "homer" is someone who always misses the point because he can't take his eyes off his own team and view anything else dispassionately.

The Jack Hughes and Slafkovsky comparison is wild. Those situations aren’t remotely similar, apart from a disappointing 1st year

Like I said, Slaf would be hard to justify in the top 6 of his own draft, let alone the top 6 of a superior draft

No one from his own draft can be justified before him right now. Other than Slaf, only Wright played more than 2 games in the NHL in 2022. He played 7 and he looked a hella lot worse than Slaf. The NHL is miles better than any other league and it's not even arguable. Until someone else plays in the NHL and shows their worth, Slaf is #1. He already played decent on a bottom 6 role at 18. Next year he should play in the top 6 and the offense should explode. Even the "god" Jiricek was worse than Slaf in his 2 game sample in the NHL. Slaf was given a very challenging season by playing a role in the hardest league in the world, while a guy like Wright was given the CHL, and was kinda disappointing.

So you wouldn’t take any of those 6 players over Slafkovsy?

Definitely not. I consider Cooley and that's it. No one else has the Ceiling Slaf. Even the 2 defenses, are good, but they won't be as impactful as a Slafkovsky in the long run
