He’d be between 4-6

Bedard
Fantilli
Michkov
Carlsson
Cooley
Smith

Here is the earliest I would have slafkovsky in a redraft mixed in with this class, and I'd still take Jiricek/Nemec before him. Maybe Dvorsky, too.

I think you guys over in Montreal are missing the Crux of the issue.

There is no "fair" trade that gets you 2OA. Anaheim wants to make the pick as badly as you want to acquire it. That dictates you need to offer a package sufficiently enticing that we are willing to make the trade. That trade will inherently NOT be a fair trade.

Good starting point is Dach + 5OA + 31 OA

Unironically they should do this lmaoooo

I said 4-6 with Michkov fall, so even you would have to somewhat agree. I also said 4-6 if only Slaf was in 2023, no combination. I'd also debate Slaf goes 1 for 2022 until someone else is able to get an NHL role

In a redraft, right now, Cooley is first.

Again, debatable. Put Cooley in the NHL last year and you would've been very disappointed. Put Slaf in the CHL and he would be #1

right, but the argument for slafkovsky was /that he was ready/. Everyone knew Cooley needed a college year. So his biggest selling point /at the time of the draft/ went out the window. Cooley's biggest question mark - his compete and size - was also rectified.

Thats pretty inaccurate. Hughes specifically said that he drafted the guy with the highest upside, not the guy with the most NHL readiness now. His plan was to play Slaf this year as an ajustement year. Hughes 100% knew Slaf wasn’t winning the calder. He knew Slaf was good enough to perform now, but that his season this year was in the process for him to be better in the future. If I asked Hughes right now, with no cameras in the room, so no privacy limitations, I am near certain that he would say Slaf’s development plan is going exactly as we expect. The injury was definitely unfortunate, but it shouldn’t really affect him long run

I agree

The Slafkovsky + a 2nd rounder is unrealistic, but to say Suzuki (a 65 point guy on a very poor offensive team) + Guhle + #5 overall (another 65 point player at least) for Fantilli makes even less sense.

Fantilli is not the next Mario.

There is no guarantee any prospect meets expectations. To quantify the difference from 2nd to 5th with Suzuki & Guhle is absolute mental illness. I get if there isn't a package fans view as adequate for a chance at what Fantilli projects to be. But that offer shows how irrational the average fan is. Too much EA Sports.

The only nonsense here is thinking Montreal can move up in the draft without an excruciating pricetag.
