Seth Jones requests a trade fictitious

Created by: Kyle_Davidson
Team: 2023-24 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2023
Published: Jun. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I remember laughing at Vancouver when Jim Benning acquired OEL at the draft, as karma for that the Blackhawks immediately acquired Jones in their own shortsighted shoot myself if the foot kind of trade.

For the record I believe that Jones is actually still a good player and while that move is still retroactively bad I don’t mind him or his contract. However in the spirit of OEL’s buyout I wanted to explore a possibility of sending him to one of his other two preferred locations when he requested a trade from CBJ: Dallas.
Trades
CHI
  1. Faksa, Radek
  2. Stankoven, Logan
  3. Suter, Ryan
  4. 2024 1st round pick (DAL)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (DAL)
  6. 2024 7th round pick (DAL)
Additional Details:
This trade is very much in the spirit of the OEL to Vancouver one, but debatably would push Dallas even further into contendership.
DAL
  1. Jones, Seth ($1,140,000 retained)

Stankoven is more apart of the price of acquiring Seth Jones.

Jones is good, not great. He could play top pair but on a good team is a #3. What do #2-3 defenders go for on the high end? Well hronek went for a 1st and 2nd and with a 4th. That should be the ceiling for a jones return

Jones > Hronek.

Also if you compare Jones to Severson’s contract it’s not bad considering jones is top pair and 2 way.

Most top pairing offensive defensemen on good teams have the benefit of a proper partner and all around team that can pull their own weight defensively, as well as decent goaltending that doesn't let in soft goals constantly. When he was in CBJ and NSH, he had that for stretches and looked great. You put him on a good team and he is still a bonafide top 4/top pairing defenseman. Will he be that closer to the end of his contract? Who knows. But at 28 years old he still has all his tools and doesn't look like he has slowed down, is hiding injuries, or lost a step in the least bit. He looks more calm and focused than ever.

I like Jfresh and his visualizations of advanced stats but after he posted Jones card when it was red a couple years ago he did irreversible damage to his reputation.

I think Jfresh is an elitist and a schmuck. His model, like all models, can be useful in some aspects. But people give it too much weight. And he uses his pedestal to talk crap and manipulate data and facts to sway public opinion to conform with his own opinions, ideas, and preferences, all the time. Maybe I'm just irrationally biased, though.

Everyone has bad takes and moments, I definitely agree with what you said about him at least conveniently presenting data to support his claims.

Sure. I know I get in my moods too. But still, I gave him a shot and quickly got the feeling his following was a bit too culty for my taste.
