I'd love to bring Gus back for veteran presence up front. I am fine with the Lindholm trade, even with less protection than top 10 (Calgary fans can want the 3OA this year all the way but that will not be on the table no matter what Aaron Portzline postulates in Flames mailmag articles). Orlov isn't necessary and is an actual hindrance with that amount of term and cap. The Islanders decline the Nelson trade. He's their only offensive threat since Barzal has vanished.

This is a stronger team than last year, that's for sure. Is it playoff caliber? No, probably not. But it's a step forward.

Lindholm won't agree to a 5 x $7 extension. He'll be looking at Horvat's contract of 8 x $8.5M, and the expected significant increase in the salary cap once the player's debt is paid off next off season.

As for the trade I was really high on Sillinger during his draft, but it looks as though he was brought up to the NHL too soon, and I don't know how it impacts his career and his value.

Roslovic is a very average middle 6 player in my opinion. The Flames have plenty of those, so if we're going the futures route I'd prefer more of those. Finally, the top 10 protection makes it likely to be a 2025 pick. I guess I'd listen, but I hope we get more for Lindholm because he's on a great value contract and can fetch at least a similar return at the deadline.
