Caps are not trading wilson

I think if they get Knies they would consider it, the retention though is very questionable.

Knies is a good prospect but I don’t think there is another player in the league that brings what Wilson does

Yeah, a scoring grinder is definitely unique. Perhaps though MacLellan tries to retool on the fly and bring in a proven PWF which aren't as rare as Wilson but still not super uncommon. The play could be for Lawson Crouse since I'm assuming that they won't have the pieces SJ wants for Meier. Maybe then even get Chychrun. They can probably then acquire Reaves or someone else to replace that enforcer element. Greenway is another guy that they can perhaps get who is available.

I expect them to keep Wilson around through the retool and maybe even the eventual rebuild. He’s a big part of that locker room. But your points do make sense
