if he got fired he would instantly go to the top of my list of preferred candidates. still young and with new ideas, has developed a ton of young talent, but with a proven track record of NHL success. doesn't get enough credit for really changing up the leafs' systems over the years as well. really ticks all the boxes

I’d really worry that the lack of players showing up (this series against Florida, last year vs Tampa, 2 years ago against Montreal) is somehow connected to him though. There’s only so many times they can go invisible before I’d start to consider it a coaching problem, and I think I’m probably at that point.

I expect it to be Leonard, Dvorsky, or perhaps a darkhorse in Sandin-Pelikka in terms of guys that will likely be there at 8. However, should Michkov fall past 5, I'd imagine they'd move picks (one of the 2025 2nds and a pick swap of some sort?) to make sure they get him. I don't think anyone they get at 8 will be up for the next two years so why not get the guy who i'd say is the second best prospect in the draft.

Disagree, Chesley will be the better defenseman. Casey brings great offense but the Caps don't need that in a prospect with Sandin here already, and Chesley is the more well-rounded guy.

I agree though that chesley had a perfectly fine season at UM. the caps have been on fire with that profile of 2nd round defenseman recently too -- seigenthaler, fehervary, iorio -- so i'll definitely give BMac and crew the benefit of the doubt
