Maybe the Rangers shouldn't sign Shattenkirk...?

Created by: PrincessChloe

Description
After Shatty's awful postseason showing, perhaps the Rangers would be smart to look elsewhere. I have no idea what it would take to pry one of Anaheim's d-men away from them, so please let me know if this trade looks reasonable or not. (If the trade is totally unreasonable, please tell me why; this is not a troll, as I really have no clue what the cost will be.)

Spooner is going to make 200-300% more than that.

Why? The Bruins seem ready to move on from him; if they don't trade his rights he may not even get a QO. In a vacuum, he's worth more, but he's the kinda player that GMs don't like, so I feel that he will almost certainly have to settle for an underpayment to find a job.

People have been mesmerized by Shattenkirk point totals. So the answer might be, the Rangers don't sign him. Trouble with the Ducks trade, the Ducks would lose Vatanen most likely if the trade was made before the draft and would lose Miller after the draft.

        How would they lose Miller?
If this trade happened they would protect Getzlaf-Kesler-Perry-Rakell-Silfverberg-Miller-Vermette, Lindholm-Fowler-Manson, and Gibson. Bieksa waives NMC or gets bought out.

They wouldn't lose Miller, but they would lose Raanta if NYR sent all the pieces over at once. Thus, sending Raanta over after the draft for "future considerations" (or perhaps a 7th) would get around that.

He's Arb eligabile and wouldn't sign for $1 million. He can go to arb and probably get $3 million per year.

The Rangers and Devils have never had a trade. I doubt they start now.
