Max Domi and Luke Hughes

Created by: Fanatical
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2021

Description
DRAFT L. Hughes

Domi is an easy trade that I can easily see happen. He is not a fit and I doubt would get much attention. Slight overpay for him IMO but Horvat and him go way back.

Detriot needs a goaltender of the future. Move back in the draft which allows the Nucks to secure Luke Hughes to play with his bro.

I dont see a scenario where hughes falls past 4 (unless power or beniers is still there which isnt gonna happen).

I kinda like that DET trade. Not sure they would do it, guess it depends on how sure they are of DiPietro and what they feel they have as G prospects.

It is interesting. I've seen a lot of predictions that DET would draft Wallstedt, but what if they could stay in the top nine to get a forward or Dman AND get a goalie? If Hughes is still available at #6 I think I like it for both teams.

Why does Columbus make that trade? A c prospect, a cap dump and a 2nd is getting Domi, who is probably Columbus’s number one center.

Easy. Cap space (keeping Jones, Werenski, past next year, Laine).
He is not a number 1 center and his value has fallen significantly. Lots of rumors of him being traded.

At best he is worth a late first and a B-tier prospect. I think this works better its a high second and a former 2nd round pick who is looking to be NHL ready. Plus they get an expiring contract from a player who can likely be traded at the deadline or be useful in the right role.

"Since John Davidson returned to the organization from the New York Rangers, it seems the focus of the team is to select potential difference-makers at the draft. The team will likely be trading Seth Jones, there are questions about the future of Maxi Domi, and who knows what happens with Patrik Laine."

To me value-wise it's close. Effectively 2 2nds, Gadjovich is looking to be a NHL player with top 6 potential and an expiring contract.

Detroit would only consider this on draft day and it depends heavily on who's still there at #6.
