I just figured with losing Krieder and other Ufa they could use a guy like Killorn and be able to afford him at that point.

Of course we get into the discussion of why Killorn waives his NTC to go from a prime Cup contender to the Rangers.

Until next season when they have $6m of Shattenkirk buyout on their books.

Maybe he likes New York Pizza.

Tampa keeps him then and send another prospect. They can afford to keep him with deadline cap space. Just not sure where he'd fit in this lineup.

I definitely can’t say I would be angry about this, but that’s a lot of futures to be giving up. I don’t see NYR taking less than this for Kreider at 50% (but I don’t know if they can afford Killorn), and the Kings probably don’t let us give less either, but I wonder how much we would have to reduce LA’s package to keep at least one of Volkov and Barre-Boulet.

Because next year his NTC turns into an M-NTC, and if he wants to be in New York, he might waive now rather than risking something less desirable in a couple of months after this would happen.

I doubt if Killorn or Palat or many of the players with 50% NTC have any change of being traded. Killorn can easily list teams that have no cap for him....which is the essence of the Tampa trade....getting rid of all the salary so they can replace him with 800,000. The way the NHL is going with top heavy signings, teams really aren't interested in a 4.45m winger like Killorn. With so many teams cap strapped just to sign their players, don't think there is a trade for Killorn and his kind .
You mention New York...Rangers have cap issues this year just to sign D'Angelo. They wouldn't have an interest or the cap in Killorn and cap retention for Kreider. And next year Shattenkirk's buyout goes to 6.1m...again finding a team with cap and desire for Killorn that Killorn would agree to go to...I estimate zero teams.

Really not a fan of that LA trade, tampa has so much cap to dump next year so without LA taking back somone like Palat or Killorn this doesnt make any sense. Martinez even at 2M doesnt really help, Toffoli will have to walk and lewis does nothing for us. On the other side the ask is the value of essentially 3 recent high round picks.

The LAK trade is simply stupid. Not gonna give up Volkov (who's NHL ready and will probably make the team this season), ABB who's an incredible prospect and VAN FIRST ROUNDER (that, who knows, could end up being a 2021 top 10 OA pick) for 3 meh players that havemediocre value. Martinez doesn't make our Dcore better.

Absolute nonsense.

Idk all I know his Tampa still has lots of good prospects even after these trades. Nolan Foote, Cal Foote, plus many more. It's worth the risk in my opinion. And if Nyr can't take killorn lightning can still keep him with the deadline cap space. Just not sure where he'd fit into this lineup

You are clueless at best. You just aren't smart enough to figure out how it makes your team better.

Even if tampa kept Killorn they would be fine capwise. Ill make another team showing you

I am the clueless one. Okay.

Let me tell you something: The Dcore we are about to roll into the season with is 99.99% the best Dcore the Lightning have EVER had. You got skills, you got puck moving Dmen, you got grit and kg. You got it all.
You think Martinez is the missing piece? Why? He's a good Dman, but definitely not someone I'd overpay for in order to then let Shattenkirk sit.
You may not be aware of this, but puck moving Dmen is what we need in order to beat what got us swept. The talk of the Lightning being pushed around during the playoffs were missleading and anyone that watched that series should know (hit count is there to show).

So no, then, explain to me the benefit of having Toffoli instead of Gourde in the top 6? None. You are trying to add pieces without thinking it trough to a team that is one of the deepest in the league. Don't even get me started on Lewis, WHAT IS THE NEED OF THAT.
The only addition that makes sense is Kreider, but other than that you are not making this team better than what it already is.

Also, do you even take into consideration that adding 4 players at the deadline, that are not used to the Lightning system, is fastest road to failure? Add one guy - it's okay. He catches up and the system stays the same with no problems. Add four - it's chaos, all the mechanism that the team have worked on for the past 5 months go down the toilet, you gotta start again as if it was day one. Same for on and off the ice chemistry.

And, on top of all this, you are mortgaging our future for what, having Toffoli on the top 6? Do you know why Tampa is able and could be able to go through this cap crunch that they are currently facing? Because of the players you are giving away for peanuts here. Volkov - low AAV for at least 4 years. ABB - cost certainty till 2021 and the couple of years after that shouldn't be hard on the cap.

In the NHL there is no guaranteed outcome in winning the playoffs. And even then, that move doesn't improve the roster by a significant margin.
Your best bet to win is to keep your window open as much as possible. Your move there takes that window and ****s on it.

If a GM would ever do something like that LAK trade, he should be hunt down and shot.

I’m totally an idiot and forgot that NYR would have to pay Killorn beyond this year. That being said, I think there are 17 teams who can afford Killorn for the right package. I think, without Killorn in the deal at all, NYR could retain here, though, because Kreider does have just one year. As long as the trade doesn’t push them over with retention, they’re fine to retain because by the time it could possibly hurt them, it will be over.
