Description
Anaheim gets back 2 firsts in a stacked draft, a good defense prospect, and a goalie replacement with championship pedigree (its a cap dump, I'm trying to sell it as smart), and only spend a starter who doesn't fit their timeline, and a couple picks, none of which go in the 1st round.

Pens try to keep their cup window open by acquiring a starter who's done it in the past when his team isn't intentionally bad, and keep a bit of draft capital. Gibson is also in his prime so notable regression is unlikely. Ty Smith isn't looking like a roster lock, especially if they keep him left side, and the pick, though a 14th OA in a highly touted draft, isn't likely going to immediately help out, which is a problem when you're trying to keep the team good for a couple guys in their mid 30s.

Toronto dumps a contract, and keeps a little draft capital. This really only makes sense if Gibson is also delt at deadline.

Interesting idea but I don't know if the penguins want to take the gamble that he suddenly returns to his old form. He has been very bad for four straight years now. If he continues to be that bad it completely closes the penguins chance at winning a cup again with Sid & Geno

I think the idea of Gibson to Pittsburgh exists solely because he's from here. I don't trust him to be The Guy on a contender anymore.
In 3 of the last 4 seasons, Gibson's SV% and GSAx/60 were worse than his backups', and those backups were never all that great. Over that entire span, he boasts a SV% of .902 and -21.41 GSAx (via evolving-hockey). I can definitely see him being better on a better team than Anaheim has been, but anything close to prime Gibby would surprise me.

Anaheim isn't retaining on Gibson nor do they want Ty Smith in the trade. Try again.

TOR accepts.

WDYM? They fall an entire round out (meaning that they payed more to dump Murray than Mrazek despite the cheap buyout) and only get an additional 6th? Heck no, if it's going to be Boston's 1st for Boston's 2nd, another 2023 3rd has to be involved at least.
