Yeah they're over the cap. Also, you're giving up way too much for Bouma and getting way too little in return for Motte, who is a top prospect.

I've said this before but they won't deal Motte, Schmaltz, or Luke Johnson in the first year or two of their contracts. I would be shocked if they did. They might trade them if they're not proving to be NHL roster material for the Blackhawks in their 3rd season. Those guys left college a year early with the promise of a chance at the Blackhawks NHL roster. They're going to give those guys a couple of years to try to make and stay on the NHL roster. With Panarin's extension, they HAVE TO depend on forwards making under $1m to fill out the bottom 6. If they start trading guys that came out of college early, more of their current and future college draft picks are going to wait to graduate and then wait through the summer to become UFA and sign with the team of their choice a la Kevin Hayes. If you're going to come out of college before you get your degree and with hopes of playing on the Blackhawks to win a Stanley Cup and then you're traded to a non-contender, you're going to be pissed. Jimmy Hayes being traded to the Florida Panthers was one of the reasons Kevin Hayes refused to sign with the Blackhawks. Why should be when he could be traded and he could sign somewhere where they'll promise him a NHL roster spot?

The trade deadline cap works different than the regular season cap. players acquired at the deadline have a pro-rated cap hit and thus this wouldn't be over the cap.

But honestly why on earth would the hawks want Bouma and his contract? Or Chimera and his contract? Neither player is what the Hawks are looking for, for the playoffs and both have deals that go through next year. They need fewer cap hits next year.
