Blake has been very conservative in his dealings so far. There's nothing to suggest that he's going to blow up the future for one chance to win now, especially when it's for a guy that they can sign next summer without having to give up anyone. I'm sure they'd be willing to pay a rental price to bring in Matthews for next season, but the return won't include their best young prospects and players.
And if the "person you seem to be" means "reasonable", then yes, I agree.</div></div>
I actually don't prefer that. Yes, I'm a Leafs fan, but I want this team to earn it and I'm super hard on them. So speak for yourself you super soft cupcake. I am realistic, and being realistic, you do not get superstar players for this league, no matter how they don't perform in the playoffs, for crap. It's so funny, you people make fun of Leafs fans for trades on here, but you literally want to give up nothing for Matthews unless it benefits you.
You're so funny and hypocritical, you cute little cupcake.

I know you're going to disagree with me because that's the kind of person you seem to be, but when you have a window, you do whatever it takes. Kopitar is another year older and UFA at the end of next year. Doughty is another year older. Reality can and does hit a lot of NHL teams quick. LA has won Cups recently, but seriously, you take a freaking swing, especially to honor guys like Kopitar and Doughty who are getting older.
I honestly can't believe someone is saying no Byfield either especially with his injuries. Idk, thank god you're not a GM I guess.

I don't get people who say this. If Matthews isn't signed this offseason they will not let him walk. So no, it's really not as simple as that. & Arizona management and ownership finally having someone to market and push that market over the top in terms of publicity....yeah, no, I don't think anyone would be "untouchable". Nobody is ever untouchable.

Reconstructing With My Vision - 2023-24
If the Leafs lose in round 1, and if Matthews doesn't agree to an extension in the summer/depending what the new GM wants to do, they will both be out there..but it's going to be for a trade that lets them stay competitive and they gain assets. Toronto would need a significant piece, another good roster player back + assets. I have drafts saved of what that looks like but I don't post because people on here are always crappy. I tried to make a PIT trade work, but I just don't think they line up from that perspective or it would be a move the Pens wouldn't want to do or a Pens player with a NMC/NTC wouldn't want to do. I love the creativity behind it, but I just don't know how PIT and TOR could agree to a Marner deal.
In terms of Murray, the Leafs would benefit more from buying him out than paying someone to take him on or getting less value back in a trade.

On this roster Meier is making 3 million with 4 million left on the cap. Don't resign Engvall, that's 2.5 million extra. So Meier can be resigned and he would be the perfect left winger to Matthews and Marner. Bunting can't be brought back, but I'd prefer the Leafs pay a true power forward 8-9 million rather than pay Bunting 5 million and Engvall 3-4 million.</div></div>
You can easily do this. Please do it to prove palhal wrong. He loves being right about everything. Do it King!!!

I have to be honest, I never considered Perron as a potential option, but I like that deal. I think maybe we would prefer to up the prospect a bit and turn the 23 pick into 24, but I really like it regardless.

Sneaky TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>Nor would the Canucks accept Minten for Kuzmenko</div></div>
Both sides wouldn't do it. Canucks like him. He's not the player the Leafs need for the playoffs as this is his first season and who knows if he could handle a bigger market and media and playoffs.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RipNasty</b></div><div>I wouldn't give up Minten for Kuzmenko</div></div>
Nobody would or should give up anything for Kuzmenko who's shooting at a high percent and the rest, just see above.
------------
With that being said, Knies can't be the 2LW and Kuzmenko is not what we need. If Knies gets inserted, he needs 3rd or 4th line, not top 6 in the playoffs when everybody's jobs are on the line here. I like a go big approach with a big name..but I also really love the idea of Henrique on this team. It would allow them to make another move with Anaheim retention. Toews would be sick there, but I really think he's going to Winnipeg or Colorado honestly.

I love Villeneuve so that hurts, but I have on my non-posted ACGM us getting Henrique too. I completely agree with your takes on him and I would slot him in the 2LW spot too. I think he would mesh so well with JT and Marner. I think Henrique makes a ton of sense for this team.

Fixing the Unfixable
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Levig01</b></div><div>I think that the value might be almost fair, but adding in sanheim is too much. I think a good prospect would be better. As far as TK, he is on a much better contract and is playing really well right now, he was only benched cause its torts coaching tbh.</div></div>
Yeah Sanheim is too much, I agree with that. & I'm not disagreeing with the Torts factor of things, but to say Marner's value is lower because he got benched when literally Konecny was benched is stupid. If you're going to bring benching into it - which I disagree with which is why I mentioned it- then it's stupid not to acknowledge the other side. Just say the trade is too much and provide a better reasoning than "he was benched" when a player coming back was also benched.
Pretty simple to understand imo

As of now, Holl would be enough. Nobody knows what's going to happen, I think if Kerfoot was gone just to offload, it would have been done by now. I have zero doubt they are assessing all their options including bigger trades, or something even as simple as waiting until the last minute to get cap compliant to see if anything happens. Pretty easy to see there could be multiple different ways they could go.

No use in debating though, just let the games be played and watch the results. I am super confident in that tandem.
