<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AH96</b></div><div>Did you forget the part where I added Denisenko to the trade? Easily one of best prospects in the entire league.</div></div>
Great prospect but lots of high end prospects don't pan out a la Puljujjarvi (so far anyways). Perhaps you're forgetting Laine has scored 110 goals in 3 seasons before turning 21 and that's with being under utilized by the moronic coaching of Paul Maurice I can't imagine what he'd be able to do with Barkov and Huberdeau instead of the line shuffling but primarily Little as his Centrr

You don't have to but in this situation I did because the deal happens either before the season or early (pre Jan 1) when Trouba can't officially agree to a contract extension. BUF doesn't make the deal otherwise.

Maybe read before you post....Trouba IS better than Risto said it plain and clear. The 1st given is to assure BUF that Trouba will re-sign given that Risto has 4 years and Trouba only 2 of control.

A Trouba trade this year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pross</b></div><div>I'd like to see Morrisey signed for less than $5m and give him a bridge deal for something more like $2.5m for 2 years. This would give Morrisey more time to develop and prove his worth. Trouba traded seems to be a legitimate action plan by the Jets, but giving up a 1st round pick in the process isn't likely part of the plan. As much as Buffalo might consider this trade, I doubt they'll accept it, since Ristolainen could play with Dahlin and create a core duo that the Sabers make the playoffs with in the not-so-distant future.
The other big concern is the cap room you've allowed for attempting to sign players like Kyle Conner, Patrik Laine, Tyler Myers, and Andrew Copp, which isn't a good place for starting the Jets 2019/20 season!</div></div>
Tyler Myers is allowed to walk and is used as an own rental this year. Kulikov and Perrault both traded at the draft or before next season to allow for Laine and Connor extensions. Worst case Connor is bridged. I'll draw up the 2019 outlook using this trade

I don't think Morrisey has a lower ceiling at all! He's been given no PP time whatsoever, and has been playing against the oppositions best all year where Hanafin has been somewhat sheltered in CAR with Slavin and Pesce getting the hard matchups. I do think CGY likely needs a small add though

tanev bro deadline
If Chiarot is your first pairing LHD...you're going to have a bad time! In all seriousness I know buff can probably carry him but the trades aren't very good. Though I love the addition of Horvat, it's not worth the cost of the downgrade on Defense from Trouba to Tanev. All things considered, I'd rather have Trouba for 2 years than Tanev assuming both walk at the end of their deals. Lowry is criminally underrated and actually isn't as much of a downgrade from Horvat as most will think/tell you. He plays a different role and doesn't put up the points that Horvat does, but the analytics community will tell you why Lowry is far superior to Horvat so depends on what school of thought you're in! Also Jets can't move Myers AND Trouba in a year they're going for the CUP.

A mid 3rd compared to a late 1st in the 25+ range <a href="https://www.tsn.ca/statistically-speaking-nhl-draft-pick-value-1.786131" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.tsn.ca/statistically-speaking-nhl-draft-pick-value-1.786131</a> and yes I do whole heartedly agree Trouba is better than Chychrun but to get back a solid and young D man who still has potential for someone who wants out especially when the kid you're getting has double the amount of control, and will cost a fraction of what Trouba does for the next 2 years (925K this year + whatever his RFA deal is which will guarenteed be less than 5.5M) will be helpful in signing the other young guys the Jets have!

It's not adding a 1st its swapping for a 3rd. Wpgs 1st is a late one and holds more similar value to a 3rd than it does a top 15 pick (likely based on the Jets having another good season)

ARZ gets the 1st because it's value isn't actually as high as you're thinking it is (likely between 25-31) so a really late 1st and due to contract status. Chychrun has 4 years of control left minimum Trouba 2.

Sens-Winnipeg-EK+Duschene
Jets DO NOT add Adam Lowry to this deal. Trouba is understandable because of the contract status and the fact they're getting EK to fill the void this year and make a cup run but Adam Lowry is as important to this franchise as Mark Scheifele and people outside the organization though I don't expect you'd know that, should be aware he's pretty much untouchable! Heck even fans in WPG don't truly understand Lowrys importance to the team!

I'm also pretty sure you have to be compliant on opening night with the CAP and that LTIR can only be used after the start of the season. DET is going to have to make a move prior to the start of the season Franzens 4M is still on the books opening night

WPG ANH MTL 3 way deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>beavereater</b></div><div>WPG gives too much and ANA gives not enough</div></div>
ANH needs incentive to make the deal otherwise there's no reason for them to move Manson. Yes Trouba may be better then Manson but the fact that Manson has 4 years left and Trouba 2 is a big difference. Also Troubas salary will jump to 6+M next year where Manson remains at 4.1M for all those years.
If you want a top pairing RHD you need to give to get. Yes ANH upgrades massively and pays very little but they have no reason to move Manson unless their getting Trouba. WPG has to move either now, or in the offseason because they can't lose that kind of asset for nothing. To get Manson back would keep their window open 4 more years at least, without giving up an elite talent like Connor, Ros, Ehlers, Vesalainen etc. Chiarot + Spacket + 1st is a very small price to pay for A) The Trouba situation being over and B) keeping the Cup window open and C) not having to move a top level asset.
I think you're just really over valuing Chiarot or Spacek.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Naturalstattrick.com
And you're quoting mostly "differential" or "offensive" stats, not "defensive" stats with the exception of the highlighted portion above (which illustrates my point, thank you). Stats like xGF% doesn't tell you how good someone is defensively, just whether their offense outweighs their defense. You need to look at the purely defensive side of the equation, like the stats I mentioned above.</div></div>
Wasn't quoting defensive only I wanted comparisons for what you were getting in advanced stats as a whole. After comparing from naturalstatrick and hockey references it's evident from just CF CA CF% that something doesn't add up in the tabulations.
Statrick had dumba in 17/18 as 1344 CF and 1502 CA for CF% 47.22 where hockey reference had CF 1413 CA 1602 CF% 46.9%.
Statrick and Trouba in 17/18 as 955 CF and 914 CA for CF% 51.10 where hockey reference had 997 CF 980 CA CF% 50.4
There aren't overly huge differences but it does add up. I'm always looking to expand my analytics knowledge and understanding as adding any information when doing an evaluation is useful but it's just interesting that 3 different sites have 3 different evaluations and though all close in assessment, there seems to be a 2% margin of error between them
