Dvo is a 30pts middle 6 center. Like Wennberg. Who got traded for a 2nd. And he's healthy now.</div></div>
Lehky had 29 points in 58 games with Montreal the season he was traded to Colorado. That is a 41 point pace over a full 82 games.
Dvorak had 9 points in 30 games with Montreal this last season. That is a 25 point pace over a full 82 games.
In addition to that, Lehky's underlying numbers were much better than Dvoraks. I don't think Dvo is a total write off, but he's not in the same ballpark as Lehky right now. If we're lucky, he bounces back and plays well enough this upcoming season that we can get a 2nd for him at the deadline

New Start
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dopplsan</b></div><div>CBJ pass. Already tried the Anderson thing, and it didn’t work out.
You’d also have to add to get a team to consider either of those guys.</div></div>
With retention someone would probably take a gamble on Dvo as a bounce back 3C, granted the return in that case still wouldn't be fantastic. We'd definitely be adding to dump Anderson though.

You sound like all the 2022 Lekhonen haters.</div></div>
The difference there is that Lehkonen was actually good. Dvo is mid when healthy, which wasn't often this last season

Spending the 5th overall pick on Trevor Zegras because TVA Sports said so
Hughes has been vocal in saying that they're DRAFTING for forward talent with that pick. It's possible that they package something with the Jets 1st round pick to move for someone like Zegras, but that trade will not involve the 5th overall pick

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>I promise you even retained the Sabres won't take Kampf but I assume that's more of an anyone who will take him type deal?</div></div>
with that retention, he's an entirely serviceable 4C. His contract is terrible, but there's nothing wrong with the player.

the difference between the 13th overall pick and a pick in the early-mid 20s is a lot more than Harris, who is optimistically worth a mid 2nd round pick

The Kings are going to need to retain a lot more than that before the Habs should be taking that kind of risk on Dubois

the Habs have absolutely no interest in Timmins. We have at least 8 defenceman that would get into the lineup over him as it is.

Montreal doesn't have a spot for Texier
also the guy isn't even from Quebec, he's French. I'm assuming there was some "send French guy to Montreal" thinking involved in this post.

That's about what I would expect from a Harris trade, not sure if Utah would really be in the market for a guy like Fast though. Good post overall.

Necas to MTL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Finding a 3c in FA could be an option, sure. But we probably won’t have cap space for that. Beck would be cost controlled.
With Necas, we would have way too many fake C. Newhook, Necas, Mesar and even Catton if we draft him</div></div>
if we trade for Necas, its to play on Dach's wing. I also don't think Newhook really belongs in the fake C category anymore. at the start of the season he was definitely better on the wing, but down the stretch he was playing really solid hockey at C

you can sign a 3C. sure it would be nice to find one internally, but ideally we'll draft someone to play in the top 6 alongside Suzuki, Caufield, Slaf, Dach, and in this case, Necas. If this were to happen Newhook could even slide down to the 3rd line to play with Roy and Armia again

Left shot defencemen currently under contract with the Habs:
Kaiden Guhle
Mike Matheson
Arber Xhekaj
Jaden Struble
Jordan Harris
Lane Hutson (if he's with the big club)
We aren't trading for defencemen, we have too many. we especially have too many Left shot defencemen. and we especially aren't paying to take on that awful contract, even for a 3rd.

A quiet offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>The reason Barron hasn't found a spot is because he's a guy with greater than 50% of his starts in the Ozone but still manages to have an under 50% corsi.
Be hard pressed to get a 3rd for a player like that, especially from the penguins. They don't need guys that have to be hidden in the Ozone. They need a 3rd pairing that can handle their own zone and PK.
That ain't Barron right now, and hence not a fit.
Maybe one day he develops into that. But PIT doesn't have the time to wait on that.
Barron actually only started 49.3% of his even strength starts in the Ozone, and I don't think it should be surprising that his corsi isn't fantastic on a team that finished 5th last, but you're right that he isn't exactly a defensive stalwart. it's fair enough if he isn't a fit for what you were looking for, but there's a decent bottom 4 guy in there for the right team to get it out of him
No one is paying you that for Barron.</div></div>

A quiet offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Kaliyev is a 3rd line winger at best and not someone Montreal needs to be adding with RHP, Ylonen, Gallagher, Heineman, Farrell, Armia, Pezzetta and Roy already fighting for 3rd line roles. Also Roy is miles better than Kaliyev so if anyone is getting 2 RW it's him.
Barron has way more value than a 3rd round pick, a 22 yo NHL ready RHD that has top 4 ceiling, that easily returns anywhere from a late 1st, to a 2nd + 3rd min.</div></div>
As I explained in the post, I think Kaliyev could improve under MSL. The lines are flexible though. Roy could very well take the 2RW spot, but he's only played 23 NHL games in his career, so I wouldn't want to bank on it even though I think he could do a reasonably good job of it.
Barron hasn't spent a full season in the NHL, and despite his decent scoring numbers hasn't forced Habs management to keep him in the lineup yet. Don't forget that he was only called up towards the end of the season on an emergency recall because Guhle and Xhekaj got injured. Sure he still has some potential, but if he's going to realize it, it won't be here. As of right now, he isn't an NHLer, and nobody is paying a 1st or a 2nd and 3rd for a tweener.
