Thread: Crazy Summer
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>You know, it's funny you think it's an overpay, because we don't think it's even close to going through. Offloading TK so you don't have to deal with his next contract that you're already not going to sign, and then the payment for the difference is a much lesser version of Zegras and a diminutive winger.

By the time TK is a UFA he'll be going into his age 29 season, we won't need his 8th year option for holding his rights, if we want to take a run at him, we have the money to do it as a UFA. The other pieces are of no interest to us.

So if you want Zegras, the main piece needs to be a young, top 6 RW with size. Signs point to Foerster as the basis for that trade, or we just keep Zegras, we're very happy to do so.</div></div>

Where do you get your intel? All indications point to TK resigning in Philly…very possibly an extension this summer.

Right now TK is the better player. Hen’s produced at a 0.95 point per game pace over his last 2 years. Zegras (throwing out last year which wasn’t good) was at .81 over his last 2 seasons. TK is also one of the best PK forwards in the league and wears an “A”.

Zegras missed 50 games last year and is now the 3rd best center in the organization, maybe 4th with the addition of Cutter.

And Zegras currently listed at 6’0” and 185lbs…..Frost is listed at 6’0” and 193….

There is a reason trade speculation has been surrounding Zegras’ name…and nobody is giving up the package you think he’s worth. That would be utterly insane and would eventually lead to Brierre’s firing if he made a deal like that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ujeje</b></div><div>The question is, do we actually need the best C of this years UFA class? I'd say no. It's not like Flyers should be competitive next year but should be, when Michkov arrives and then try to take advantage of his ELC. And when that happens they struggle if they are using 15M+ on regressing Lindholm and Couturier.

But I could take Monahan cheaper with 2-3 year contract if they really want to add a center. Just play Frost as 1C then "Monahan"/Couturier/Cates as 2C and 3C or Cates at LW since we lack LW aswell. Poehling is good 4C. VGK and Bruins have shown that you can be a really good team without elite centers, if the rest of team is good enough and coaching is good aswell.</div></div>

They aren’t likely getting a center in free agency…at least not the long-term solution. They have acquired 4 firsts and 4 seconds in the next two drafts. Some of that is going to be used (maybe in conjunction with Laughton and/or Risto) as trade capital. Look for the Flyers to go after high-end prospect, a young center with good upside, or to trade up in this year’s draft to get a C or first pairing LD.
