Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>It's on the weaker side of returns, since POJ won't have much value. BUT Marner has a full no move clause, so he would be in control of his fate, which lowers the value.
2025 1st + 2024 2nd + Prospect (I would prefer a different piece than POJ but Pits doesn't have much going on on the prospect front... So Maybe 2026 2nd?) + All that cap space.
I would consider it from the Leafs side. Marner would need to come with an 8 year extension.
I still think Pittsburgh's best play is to trade Crosby and go full rebuild... I know that's blasphemy to most people but it's their best move.</div></div>
Yeah trading sid is the best move from a gm perspective but from a franchise/fan base perspective it is not

Utah/az could always flip jt at the trade deadline for a good haul if he is heavily retained. He’s definetly better than a decent 3rd line forward and would be a very good peice for assets. He also can provide leadership. I see your issue but if I were az I would look at it as a short term investment

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>emoprettyboy</b></div><div>value on the trade is perfectly good for the Sens, but I just don’t see how Marner to Ottawa makes any sense for them. he’s not gonna take a pay cut and I’d be surprised if people internally were happy about him coming off the Leafs and becoming the highest paid player on the Sens by a massive margin, plus needing extension that he could easily not want</div></div>
I see what you are saying about that. My thoughts behind it was Ottawa is trying to take the next step by getting into the playoffs and needs a high caliber player to do so. I see your point though

Way Too Early Look At Next Season
I would way rather have Accari as our 4c, than drury plus we would have to lose poj and more because that trade would not be accepted by Carolina. People seem to think accari is bad because he doesn’t get points but he is very good for his role

You could keep macdermid and have up to 7.8 to sign hronek with those other contracts eliminated

Yeah I had trouble trying to figure out the defense. I always thought orlov was a weird signing for the canes. Who do u think would be a good player for the bottom pairing if orlov and chatfield are both out and morrow moves in?

Complete overhaul
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>Once Crosby, Malkin, LeTang and Karlsson retire in a few years, Pittsburgh will be heading for a massive rebuild. So why would Guentzel, Pesce and Hanifin want to commit long term with a team in flux?
Once you traded Jake Guentzel you lost the 8th year. And you can only sign Hanifin for 7 years as well.
Pittsburgh is the oldest in the league, And I can't see any of those UFAs committing to an aging team that's more than likely heading for a massive rebuild in another 3-4 years if not sooner.</div></div>
Forgot about losing the 8th year. Ur totally right. Idk why those free agents would want to sign in Pittsburgh but that wasn’t the point, the point was logistics

They are not a team that needs another LD, and they definitely want nothing to do with that contract. And getting rid of Rackell won't be as easy as that either.</div></div>
In my description I wrote that the smith and graves trades could really be to anywhere not necessarily where I traded them

Yeah Sid spends his summers there training with Mackinnon. I would love to have him retire as a penguin but I do believe he will be wasted for the next few years here. If he could come back after that would be phoenomenal
