Toronto's next GM is the biggest looser in this trade.
Only 2 top 60 picks in the next 4 drafts? I see a 1st round exit and a firesale in their future.

But as we’ve seen time and time again, in most cases you can’t judge a trade a whole **checks twitter** 54 minutes after it being announced. Jeannot may end up fitting in like a glove in tampas top 9. That’s clearly what Brisbois is expecting or else he wouldn’t have paid that crazy price. But you’re right. That’s a whole lot of assets for a guy struggling. He very well may work out, but if it doesn’t, definitely won’t be a good example of asset management</div></div>
You end the comment well. Jeannot may very well be useful for Tampa. They still paid too much

I wish that someone had proposed something close to this exact trade a week ago, so we could now apologize for all the unkind things we would have said about his evaluation skills and grasp of hockey . . . I would have been first in line, because I think this would have been an overpayment BEFORE including the first . . .
What's fascinating to me is to speculate about how this came to happen . . . did Poile tell Brisebois that he wanted three firsts for Jeannot and Brisebois managed to negotiate him down???

Thn did their top 100 and went orr, harvey, Lidstrom, shore, bourque.
I went with bourque number 2. Reason why: 19 year end all star team selections, so essentially 19 times was considered a top four defenseman in the league, 13 of those top 2. His 13 are more than total selection s for lidstrom/harvey which is absolutely insane to me. 5 Norris in arguably the toughest peer competition. Who does everyone else have?

I dont see a single post in any thread, or your page for that matter where you offered or won an offer on galchenyuk who would have been a free agent this past offseason. Once the free agent period ended you lost your rights to him. So im not sure why you would include "held his ufa rights". This is an in-season ufa signing which would be a waiver claim not a ufa signing.
"any free agent signing during the season may be made during the season using the same thread as waiver claims. In-season free agent signings also count towards your monthly claim limit. There will be no "free" first come/ first served free agent signings".
Do you guys even read the rules orrrrrr???</div></div>
I owned him last year via trade w Bennett, extended him via my UFA extension, and as he went unsigned thru 25% of the season, I am now activating him to my roster

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>Please update me once a resolution is reached.</div></div>
First and foremost, apologies for this mess. We've been trying to keep it under control, but when a group of people starts complaining, it eventually boils over into something overdramatic as we saw today. I hope everybody involved will take this opportunity to grow and learn to respect others especially when a person is going through a tough time in their current life.
Now regarding the resolutions; the whole reason this started was that there was a rule broken in a trade that was missed by the BOG which affected the scoring of the game. Once this was noted some people used it as an excuse to attack the BOG for being pickers and choosers regarding the rules, while we were discussing what to do. Earlier today we reached a resolution where a modified trade would stand so the scoring would not be drastically adjusted and everybody involved gets to keep their players.
Once again apologies for this disturbance, it has now been resolved in our game.
Thanks,
BOG

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>I was really hoping pens traded either Dumo or Petterson instead but Kent Hughes was insistent on Matheson. Makes sense. He’s a better player (based on his performance in Pittsburgh last season). I think Petry will also really help Letang because he can eat more minutes than Matheson. Give Letang maybe 23-24 mins a night and Petry 21-22. Should help both guys as they age</div></div>
If you watch the Petry interview today, he pretty confirmed everything that was happening behind the scenes. He didn't understand his role with a team in chaos on the management side, coaching and on the ice. He really picked up his game to end the year. He's a great #2 D. I'm sure he will be outstanding in Pittsburgh. All his tools are still there, his skating, physicality, offensive instincts, no serious injuries. Its a great bet for the Pens as they want to win now. You're doing well with Petry on the 2nd pair. The question again will be the goaltending in Pittsburgh.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>I think Matheson gets way too much hate. He was great on Pittsburgh this season. However, he was given a more sheltered role. On MTL it looks like he’ll be their #1D lol which likely won’t end well. In terms of value I think it’s a fair trade, but I’m not sure how Matheson will perform in MTL playing likely 22+ mins a night.</div></div>
I expect a lot of chaos. That is fine in a rebuild. They'll need some more experience, moving Romanov out and now Petry. It's getting thin. They got nothing on the right side to cover his end to end rushes. He's a placeholder, nothing more. They have a ton of left D prospects. A big reason why they could flip Romanov. If anything he can be flipped for a decent return as his contract should age well. Gudbranson almost makes as much as Mikey M. from Pointe Claire. With the cap going up, his deal will be looked at as a bargain.

Poehling is a throwaway player.
So it becomes Matheson + 4th for Petry.
Matheson is 6 years younger and signed for 1 more year than Petry, costs $1.4 Million Less and will likely remain as a top 4 defensemen throughout his entire contract wheras Petry will likely start regressing in the next 2 or 3 years. I do like this trade for Montreal, but I voted fair trade because I think both teams do well here.

Pittsburgh has made it clear the next 1-2 years they are going all-in with 0 regard for the years after. So this contract fits their plan. Geno gets the term he wants and Pittsburgh gets to contend for the short term.
