<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>habitantlecolon</b></div><div>well in fact it affects the chart value of the pick, rhd being a rare product in the NHL makes Barron even more valuable. This draft is deep in d-man, but the fact that you can land an active player should ring a bell for a team like SJ that needs to have youngsters that fit their window!</div></div>
Or, crazy idea here, they draft one of Yakemchuk, Parekh, Jiricek, Elick or Emery with that pick.

Sharks decline. Why on earth would we trade our best player from last year and a 2nd round pick for two 30+ players who aren’t that good?

I think you would need to take out both for them to accept.

Jesus dude are you trying to start a war between the California franchises?
I'm a Ducks fan and even I can tell that offer is downright insulting to San Jose.

Out of pocket moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>I think earlier in the season he was worth it but was scratched many nights. I don’t thinks it’s too far off though</div></div>
He wasn’t healthy scratched much after Thanksgiving, he was mostly just hurt again. At least one concussion, took a puck to the face while sitting on the bench that broke most of his teeth, and closer to the end of the year got tangled up with a ref near the bench and suffered a weird upper body injury. He wears #27, which is very cursed for this franchise, and joked at exit interviews he will be changing it next year.

So the Sharks give you a middle pairing LD in exchange for a similar (but higher paid) LHD and also give up a 3rd? Color me confused.

I'd pay the NJD 2nd and B-prospect at most.
If not, just wait a couple years till his value is lower or he walks in FA.

Dream Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>He’s just SO inconsistent for how much he’s paid that it’s a risky move for anyone to take him on. Either you get 20 points a season or you get 80, just all over the place. San Jose has the cap space if he wanted to be moved.</div></div>
A lot of that was deployment. The coach before granato thought that a 9 million dollar winger should at least pretend to play defense once in a while. Skinner thought otherwise. There was a power struggle, with Skinner being made a healthy scratch or playing on the 4th line with linemates that played like they were wearing oven Mitts. The fans rebelled, (it might have helped if the coach wasn't awful) eventually the coach was fired. But for at least parts of those seasons, skinners offensive output was directly related to this. Reasonably, unless you want to shame him for not playing d, he's gonna score 25 or more with 20 or more assists. The more you play him, the more he scores, and he does it 5v5.

Because Blackwood >>> Husso. And why tf would SJ be the one's giving up a pick for Fabbri? It's an awful trade for them

I know points aren't the end-all be-all factor here but just for the record, the sharks would basically be trading away two fine contracts for two bad contracts costing them $7 million more for over twice the term in total. And the payout for all of that is only an extra 19 points.
Not sure how Carolina doesn't add like at least a 1st here just for Kotkaniemi's cap dump alone...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>I think I’d rather San Jose just stay at 14. You’re getting a very similar player at 10 and 14. I think they want those mid draft picks to take a shot at a goalie which they didn’t get last draft</div></div>
I agree SJS needs everything un less it's a player they can't live without, it doesn't make much sense to give up 3 picks to move up 4 spots especially when the high end talent drops out between 5 - 7.

God I hope the Canes pass I don’t want anything to do with that contract that’s 1.5 mill too much for 5 years longer than it should be.
And you’re right the difference isn't 2 2nds, it’s way more! Granlund is offensivly what you guys hoped JK would be! And not a 4th line overpaid problem.

Also this is terrible for the Sharks.
Emberson was fantastic when healthy. Pohlkamp is a very solid RHD prospect + Blackwood and a 2nd makes no sense. I like Rodrigues but they could easily get a player of his quality (or much better) in Free Agency.
I'd consider Blackwood with no retention 1 for 1 for him, anything more is crazy

Sharks would still say no even if they lose the lottery and wind up 3rd OA.

Agreed. Zadorov would be good. Maybe Hakanpaa too, although he's rated as P3.

Isles say no, no reason to pay a 2nd to dump 2.5 million. Remove Rutta and I say isles do it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>There likely is stuff to work on, but, imo, he is at a good enough level that that stuff will be better learned at the NHL level.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>I tend to agree with that, however I’ve heard multiple scouting reports say he still has stuff to work on in his overall game. If the sharks get Celebrini, I think it’s fine that smith goes back and is the guy at BC being 1C. I know college players can be tough to handle, see Cutter Gautier, so if there’s a similar situation just sign him.</div></div>
Honestly it comes down to what both players want! If they want to go back to college for a year let them if both want To come over, remind them it’s not a guaranty they make the roster and could end up starting the season in the AHL! if they still want to sign, sign them. In the end it’s very important to treat them like adults let them have a say and be honest and open, lies deceit and forcing them one way or another could destroy the relationship with the club and I don’t want that!
