<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CakeEaterBanks</b></div><div>LMAO the last time the jackets were relevant was when they had walk back the Mike Babcock signing so you can't really talk about Leafs blowing Matthews window.
As. for my proposals look back I've been close on actual proposals that went through in real life and even overpaid on most. I had Domi, Murphy and Lafferty to Toronto back in 2023 when I had similar value given up for the Jake McCabe trade.
The fact of the matter is we overvalue and undervalue based off fan reactions when in reality there have been teams that called about Marner</div></div>
I can talk about whatever I please. The team I choose to follow has zero bearing on that. Just like the Jackets being a complete ****show has no bearing on the fact that the Leafs are just as much of a ****show that can't even accomplish anything when they've been giftwrapped actually good players and a city where UFAs want to sign.
I'm not going to waste my time looking at your past proposals. I know everything I need to know about your hockey knowledge by the quality of your proposals here. I mean come on, you're saying your motivation for trading Marner is because he has lost the respect of the city? The average Leafs fan's opinion isn't worth jack **** when the actual people in charge are considering how to build their roster. Talk about an overinflated ego, holy ****.

I think you're the one who dense especially when trades are done by the agents not by the GMs 90% of the time</div></div>
You think his mind was on offersheeting Mitch Marner when he clearly had his job in New York lined up well before the season ended? Stop being thick. You're simply wrong.
Ok, so now you're just moving the goalposts. First you said the team offersheeted Marner so they must still be interested. Then because the GM has since been fired you said the President is still there. Then when you find out the President wasn't there when this offersheet happened you say the agents are the ones who really make the trades. Shut up already. You Leaf fans are just exhausting. Your proposals suck, they make no sense, and they're never going to happen. The Leafs suck and are going to suck for another 60 years at least and you get to watch them blow the Matthews window live. Enjoy.

Marner is 27 and fits the timeline to help the Jackets get into the playoffs.
Plus having Marner would unlock another level in Marchenko game.</div></div>
Dude, give it up. You clearly are speaking out of your ass. JD resigned on May 17 and signed with the Rangers 2 days later. He literally was not a part of the org when that happened. God damn you Leafs fans are impossibly dense.

Im pretty certain they are interested especially when goal scoring has been a constant issue and defensive play from forwards</div></div>
The GM who made the offersheet was fired. The team has since signed two expensive wingers. They are developing a lot of young, skilled players and were 11th in 5v5 goal scoring and only 4 goals behind 6th so goal scoring is not an issue. Another expensive winger does not get the Jackets closer to the playoffs. Young players who fit the same timeline as Fantilli are what make sense for the Jackets.

Absolutely not for CBJ. Marner doesn't make them a playoff team and Jiricek fits far better with their future.

No crazy blow-ups what could Val return
I'd be real surprised if the first move the new CBJ GM made was to bring in as controversial of a player as Nichushkin. Especially not when the team is already dealing with Laine in the assistance program.

You're not getting that the new GM can literally be blocked from participating by his previous team as a requirement for allowing him to be hired. It's not a debate, it's an a or b thing based on what the previous team mandates.

The GM may not even be involved in the draft if he's coming from another org. The draft will be heavily influenced if not fully decided by the scouting staff. We're not talking about trades and contracts here.

Potential price to move up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jacketsman61</b></div><div>Not true at all. CBJ are probably the biggest enigma of the draft. They really don’t have one particular need above another. They also could move the pick for immediate help and have cap space to facilitate a trade. While I wouldn’t rule out Silayev, the Jackets already have Werenski and Provorov with Svozil and Mateychuk on the way. I could see the Jackets possibly going with Iginla even as high as 4.</div></div>
Not sure why you're trying to say it isn't true at all. There are plenty of reports about Silayev being high on the Jackets' list. By the time he's truly NHL ready there's no saying what their defensive group will look like and Provorov will almost certainly be gone if not potentially Werenski too.

That's one of the most desperate, uneducated takes I've ever seen. McConnell is completely hands off. If you think he's going to go to the new GM and try to influence him to go after Marner you're just being silly.

You realize the guy who made that offer was fired, right? Plus the aforementioned two high priced wingers that have since joined the roster. $30M on 3 wingers is not good roster construction,

Insane. You'd think they'd have won multiple Cups with how they talk about their core and their prized prospects. Self awareness aint their strong suit. All should be blocked. They shout into the void and think it's poetry.</div></div>
Yeah, all those idiot Jackets fans should be thrilled at the idea of watching their prospect pool get gutted for the Leafs' castaways. Why should they want to watch the Jackets try to develop a roster through drafting like almost every other team around the league does? Know your place and cheer for the Jackets to trade the young players you're excited for so they can miss the playoffs while also having no future.

Note that there's mostly only one side that keeps proposing every possible way to take half of the Jackets prospect pool for Marner and it's not Jackets fans.

Trading up one spot doesn't happen. Either the Jackets are intent on taking the player Montreal wants and will refuse to trade with them, or they don't want the same player Montreal does and there's no reason for Montreal to trade up. If you trade up you're doing it to move up 2 or more spots minimum\ because you're convinced someone just ahead of you wants the same guy.
As for the Russians, I'll quote Marchenko himself "I am happy Russian boy, Yegor is cute Russian boy, and Dmitri is tough Russian boy". I'd love to see them stapled together as a line and any coach that even suggests breaking them up in the future be fired out of the cannon into Pittsburgh.

Oh look, another proposal where the Jackets trade their 1C and captain, their hopeful future 1RD that fits in with the age range of their upcoming roster, and 4th OA for a winger in the last year of his contract that will cost them $11M+ to extend if he even wants to. How could they possibly turn such an opportunity down? What team wouldn't want to dedicate $30M+ to 3 wingers?
