Brady to Jersey
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StutzlesNumber1Fan</b></div><div>Oh I understand it's a overpayment, but all of NJ media is hyping up Brady and the Hughes connection and relationship, your GM is related to him apparently and half the league would put an offer for Brady. NJ has the ability to land him over everyone with Mercer + Nemec and I'd even be willing to add something reasonable on top of Brady for them both. It's a for fun site so just try to have some imagination :)</div></div>
If Tkachuk is on the market NJD could afford him over everyone without including Nemec.
Nemec+Mercer for Thachuk+7th overall and I’d maybe consider it. Would likely pass tho.

Brady to Jersey
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Let’s say the Sens do this proposed trade of Mercer + Casey + 10.
They draft Helenius at 10.
A core of Stutzle , Mercer, Helenius , Pinto, Greig , Sanderson, Parekh, might be good but it won’t be good enough to be a contender.
They’d be too good to tank for the top liners but too bad to contend .
It would basically be Stutzle + a bunch of 2nd liners .
Casey is undersized , we probably have no room to play him anywhere or a partner for him.
That trade just doesn’t make sense</div></div>
I’d agree with that. The sens best shot of winning a title is with Brady and building around him. He should only be moved if he demands out. If he demands out, the return will be disappointing as it always is.
Zegras would make more sense for Ottawa because of his upside, whereas my perspective comes from winning now, and the preference of Mercer defensively and his cap hit shorter term.
Whereas Ottawa, if they moved Tkachuk, would be needing a 2nd star forward.

Pick Values in Trade Downs
From my interpretation:
Puckpedia is based on trade values historically.
The Athletic is based on the expected results produced by those picks.
So in makes sense that Puckpedia falls in line with previous trades

LAK Blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Gavrikov would cost a whole hell of a lot more than that.</div></div>
I doubt it.
Full NMC
Nearly 6 million dollars AAV
1 year of term
Big cap crunch for LAK.
If he’s willing to waive, which he may not be. LAK may simply rather spend that cap space on Roy than Gavrikov.
And I can’t see a team paying more than a 2nd at the very most. It’s not like he’s significantly raised his stock since that was his UFA market value. I’d probably expect a 3rd if LAK tried to sell him

If they accept this offer the future is even more mid
The only scenario where I could see a trade happening is if Brady demands one.
And unfortunately for Ottawa in a scenario like that the returns would be limited.
I think a trade like this would be a solid outcome for Ottawa if he demanded a trade.
But no reason to even take calls as Ottawa, and no reason for a GM to waste their time calling about Tkachuk, unless he publically asks out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>I can, but first off…your offer isn’t close! Johansson is completely washed up and O’rourke might never play with n the NHL!
I see Chesley developing into a league-average to very good 2nd pairing RHD. He’s a very good skater, has a very heavy shot, moves the puck fairly well, has piss and vinegar in his game, is as strong as an ox, and probably has more offensive upside than most people think. He would be the perfect #2 to Faber’s #1. Those two manning the right side of the blueline for the next decade+ would be terrific!</div></div>
Wasn’t my offer but much appreciated for the info, thanks

Malenstyn would be a perfect fit in NJD imo. Tough role, fast, physical. We do need a 4C and Trenin maybe should be prioritized at LW instead of malenstyn.
I think Mercer Trenin Lazar Haula Malenstyn all have enough of a C skillset to be able to fill out our bottom 2 Cs.

Spending the 5th overall pick on Trevor Zegras because TVA Sports said so
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Zegras is better than the player you hope to pick at 5OA in a weak draft will become, therefore Zegras is greater than 5OA.</div></div>
The odds of a 5th overall pick being better than zegras is historically about 50%. The difference is with zegras you get 2 years at 6 mill and 1 year of RFA control. With the rookie you get 3 years at 950k and then 4 years of RFA control.
Alex Debrincat recieved a package equivalent to about 5th overall.
He was a 45 goal, 82 point pace player. Zegras is levels below

Zegras I think would be a 10th-13th range. He’s not 40+ goal PPG debrincat.
And that contract is hefty for what he is

How much is Huberdeau worth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Sure, we wanted him when he was a 115 pts scorer. We want him now, only if you give us Andersson and Zary for us to take that contract.
I dare you to find one worst contract. Go ahead</div></div>
I would not take Huberdeau+Andersson+Zary for FC.
16 mill total is good for 1 year. Then zary needs a new deal. Then the next year Andersson expires and you’re still stuck with another 52.5 mill owed to huberdeau

Markstrom and CGY heading to Splitsville
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swissmontana</b></div><div>'paying back what you paid for him' bro what kinda return policy GMing is this haha
Avs have proven his value. He's not going anywhere unless it's too good a deal. Their sticky cap situation is, in reality, being only like 3 mil over the cap. it can be anyone, and it's going to be one of their 2 $5mil 2nd line defensemen, probably.</div></div>
His play is virtually identical to what it was in Tampa so yeah.
If the Avs want to sell another piece they’re more than welcome to.
