Washington Capitals signed Michal Kempný (4 Years / $2,500,000 AAV)

I rooted for the Caps and Jets most of the playoffs but seeing how the Caps fans bash the Pens at every chance they get is just sad. Act like you've been there before.</div></div>
Top ten best quotes in sports “act like you’ve been there before” lol. We actually haven’t been there before so we’re going to enjoy it. Thanks for the sage words of advice, though.
The Pens can go to hell and I’d expect every Caps fan to say the same and every Oens fan to say the same about us. It’s sports.

B2B Part 2
If we don't resign Beags, I'd say it's likely that Stephenson slides into that 4C slot while Walker/Gersich battle for the 4th LW spot.

Washington Capitals signed Michal Kempný (4 Years / $2,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SuperBurgerHabs</b></div><div>A bit expensive for what he's done so far but if he's able to play this contract like he played in the playoffs its going to be worth the money.</div></div>
I honestly don't see how this is expensive at all. The sample size might be small but he did a phenomenal job stabilizing the Caps defense down the stretch. Tom Reirden sees a lot of potential in Kemper and he *loves* Reirden. I actually think the Caps found something in Kempny and even if you have to drop him back to the 3rd pairing, with the Cap ceiling continuing to climb, having a stable defender locked up for four years at 2.5M isn't going to be burdensome, even if he regresses. It does have the potential to be a fantastic contract though if he continues to be a Top4 D for the Caps.
Having Orlov, Nisky, Carlson, and Kempny all locked up for 3+ years should give the Caps a strong defense for years to come.

Washington Capitals signed John Carlson (8 Years / $8,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>noahphillipss</b></div><div> If you're Washington, you gotta do whatever it takes to keep him - especially if you want a chance at a couple more cup runs before Ovechkin starts to slow down.</div></div>
The contracts that the Caps have given Oshie and Carlson the last two years make it very clear what their window is. They're looking to go all in for the next five years or so while they still have Ovi and Backy. After these contracts to Osh, Carlson, Orlov, and Kuzy, I fully expect that Backy and Ovi will resign in Washington at the end of their upcoming contracts. Not that that is overly surprising. Now that they have a cup they have no reason to go cup chasing. Caps should have a very strong corps moving forward for the next 5-6 years now and if they get another cup in that period then I think most Caps fans will be happy to be overpaying Carlson and Oshie the last two years on their deal

How the Caps resign Carlson

I agree. I mentioned in my comments I think moving him in some fashion makes a lot of sense if you bring back Kempny and Carlson

Which Team do you think will have the best offseason?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BoltsPoint21</b></div><div>Next season will be the Lightning's best chance for a year or two. I think we will need a year or two to integrate youth such as Callan Foote, Taylor Raddysh and Mitchell Stephens. However, I still see us as a playoff team, just not a cup contender until our youngsters develop enough.</div></div>
Hey the Caps thought 2017 was their chance because they were going to have to replace guys like Williams, Shatty (sort of), MoJo, etc with guys like Vrana, Stephenson, Djoos, Bowey, etc and it was the latter who got them a cup. I could totally see Tamps following the same path. The Bolts have been stacked and a major threat in the East for awhile now but haven't been able to break through with this squad. Maybe the youth influx, when it comes, does the same that it did in Washington.

Washington Capitals 2018-2019
I went conservative from the caps perspective. I thought 3M was expensive for Beagle too but I’ve seen 2-2.5 thrown around and so I upped it just a tad to be safe.
I could still see Orpik get bought out despite his great performance in the post season to try and squeeze some extra cap.
What’s Grubauer worth? I’m not good at evaluating trades
