My official May Rankings 2024
Stiga and Emery are a bit low, I have Stiga at #11, and Emery at #24
Stiga- Second-best skater in the draft and the best defensive forward in the draft.
Emery- Shutdown guy but has improved the puck skills.
The rest looks reasonable.

Dickinson at 17th, Stiga at 21st, Yak at 32nd? Is there something I'm missing here?

Connelly at 5th doesn't shock me at all. I have him #6 on my board.

Hemming too high and Stiga way too low.
Detroit drafting at 5th would be a shocker for sure.

Players in U-18 tournament
If Stiga and Bednarik keep playing the way they did today, I see them close to the top 10. Hemming as well.
Stiga is #11 on my board given his skating and unreal defensive play alone (2nd best skater in the draft, best defensive player in the draft). Hemming is a worse version (only difference is that he needs to work on his puck control, Stiga needs to work on using his strength offensively).
Bednarik is basically the definition of a Swiss Army knife type player. Pretty much can do everything when at his best, however he tends to be selfish with the puck (shot power isn't great and barely shoots the puck). Basically this year's Nate Danielson.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsCanucks</b></div><div>Great work on the analysis; I always learn a thing or two when I read through your draft lists. As a Habs fan, I'm happy to hear that the Hawks are looking at defensemen.
Utah with Celebrini would be very dangerous in a few years.
The picks all make sense to me, though I can't see Sennecke or Hage making it out of the 1st round at this point. I have them both in my top 20, and I wouldn't be surprised to see them go even higher than that.
Other people have already pointed out some of the issues with your mock trades, but I can see the two pick swaps happening (probably with more compensation coming from the teams moving up though).</div></div>
Take out Brannstrom, then just have Korp and whoever they choose between Pinto and the 8th. Retain salary on Marky.
I've also seen that Anaheim is looking for RD, I see them trading back. Utah is also very high on Yakemchuk as well, but if they are at 1st Celebrini is the obvious choice.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_92</b></div><div>Gotta love and appreciate the effort on this one, seems like you did your research on everything well.
That being said, I don’t see Igor Chernyshov being high on Toronto’s list - at least the people I know that work for the team haven’t mentioned his name a lot.
Treliving typically doesn’t draft a lot of Russians and Chernyshov doesn’t fit his style of play. He’s more of a skilled playmaker and perimetre player whereas Treliving values the bigger, stronger, meaner guys earlier on in the draft and typically saves the skilled players for later in the draft as project picks.
I’ve heard they’re keeping an eye on Charlie Elick - a big, strong skating right handed defender playing for Brandon in the WHL. & that seems to not only fit Treliving’s draft history style, but also the team needs. Elick should eventually round out as a solid #3 or #4 defender that plays a push back style game - it’s something the Leafs don’t have a single prospect in the system that plays that way at that position so I gotta believe my sources are right that Elick is high on their board. If he’s available, gotta think Treliving runs to the podium to get him</div></div>
I actually would have them picking Elick if only the red wings didn't reach on him. But given what you are saying, and it makes sense, the Leafs would draft Emery.

If only the Devils were still very high on Holtz, they wouldn't take Connelly. I believe Connelly is also the best skater in the draft. Basically can do it all offensively.
I could see Greentree being the pick if the Devils don't take Connelly.

On Markstrom, Pinto alone would be a steal for Calgary. Or the 8th overall pick alone would be as well.
If they are paying to move Korpisalo and are getting retention on Markstrom....maybe 8th/Korp for retained Marky.
On the Chicago/Seattle pick move -- the difference between #2 and #4 is probably more than a late 2nd pick. Its likely twice that.
According to the <a href="https://puckpedia.com/pickvalue" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Puckpedia Calculator</a>, the difference is equivalent to the #23 overall pick.
According to the <a href="https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2020/05/06155402/Screen-Shot-2020-05-05-at-4.55.33-PM.png" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Athletic Pick Value Chart</a>, the difference is equivalent to the #26 overall pick.</div></div>

I always ignore size, as seen with Benson, DeBrincat, Caufield, it doesn't matter anymore.
As for 2023:
1. Bedard: It was obvious
2. Carlsson: A few days before the draft, it was said that Verbeek was high on Carlsson and Michkov and ignored Fantilli. Carlsson made the most sense.
3. Fantilli: Columbus was high on Will Smith, but you can't pass up on Fantilli's talent.
4. Smith: Smith has connections to Grier's son.

Corey Pronman's April Ranking
I don't love Pronman's takes, but you have to respect it. 2022 he was the only one that had Wright going 4th and everyone called him crazy.
Maybe he sees something we don't.
Guys too early:
Yakemchuk (defensively there's some holes, but the physicality is there)
Sennecke (point production isn't enough to put him at #12, given the top 20)
Eriksson (don't know much about him, seems to carry the puck for way too long, leaving him with no options)
Badinika (one of the bigger risers, I wouldn't have him as high as #27 yet)
Guys too late:
Demidov (could challenge Celebrini for #1)
Eiserman
Connelly (don't overlook the off-ice issues, he's top 5 based off talent alone)
Boisvert (though I understand this one, he's had an up and down season)
Sahlin Wallenius (and Brannstrom comp? he's more Pavel Mintyukov)
Guys spot on:
Levshunov (I have him at #3, but could honestly be #2, I did have him at #1 for a majority of the year)
Lindstrom (I don't get the Kreider comp, he's more Hintz. But injuries and a underwhelming playoff performance definitely dwindled his stock)
Chernyshov (some people have him low cause of inconsistency, I have him around this spot because of the upside)
Guys missing:
Teddy Stiga: Second best skater in the draft and best defensive forward in the draft.
EJ Emery: He and Elick are pretty much the same player, Emery brings less offense.
Hagen Burrows: Underrated two-way forward that just transitioned out of high school.
Dean Letourneau: Another high-schooler, at least 1 or 2 get ranked in the first round every year.
Clarke Caswell: He was a top 10 player in the draft coming into the season. A very good player still, just got jumped by other players.
