I can see maybe a Darryl Sutter or a Ken Hitchcock, someone with a mountain of experience and a strong defensive system. I also thought about Dan Bylsma but I think he may be too similar to cooper. The dream would still be somehow getting a Tortorella or a Babcock type but we will see.

Detroit would be another team with the Yzerman connection I think he would waive for, Tampa probably would have to take back Helm or Ericsson though

We need a coach with a real defensive structure and system, and we need to package one of our firsts to rid us of Gourde

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JTBF81</b></div><div>Gourde has been on the 2nd line plenty. He usually shifts between the 2nd and 3rd lines, and is usually a solid 2 way player. Many on the Lightning have struggled offensively to start this season, not just Gourde. However his 5.17 aav is fair, his 2 full seasons he has produced 112 points in 162 games, or nearly .7 ppg. Even looking at his entire nhl career, he has 125 points in 194 games, or .64 ppg. That equates to a low to mid 50 point player, which makes his contract a fair one. The ntc may have been a mistake, but the value was not.</div></div>
They guy had 64 points two years ago and people on this site act like he can't play because he has a ntc

Hall and Toffoli
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMG</b></div><div>They both see the writing on the wall. Ntc or not the bolts have to move pieces out to maneuver around the cap and they will both unfortunately be cap casualties. Neither are high maintenance players and I can't see either being overly resistant to a change of scenery.</div></div>
And yes the argument can be made for why would they leave tampa who most think have the best chance to win? Well look how it worked out for them last year. Just because you have the best team on paper or the best record really doesn't mean s*** come April. Both Killorn and Gourde have both seen a dip in their production not for a lack of effort but for a lack of opportunity, this roster is simply too deep to afford everyone the opportunity for equal ice and powerplay time and these players are both suffering offensively because of it. I would imagine that both would welcome the opportunity for a fresh start with a new and increased role somewhere else, and especially knowing the leadership qualities and experience that both possess, I can absolutely see either welcome the challenge of being apart of the rise and growth of a young team like the devils, who aren't as far away from contending as their record may suggest.

I think they use they assets in the Toffoli deal to acquire a defenseman and a kind of grittier forward. I can see a package containing Joseph moving to LA for Martinez and a guy like Clifford

Smartish trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ASoftDumpInTheCorner</b></div><div>what do you think would make it happen? adding lily as the prospect?</div></div>
Nothing would make that happen. Nashville is contending and the dude is probably the most underrated player in the league year in year out and making less than 4 mill. Obviously anyone can be traded in this league but Nashville would absolutely have to be blown away to make this trade, and if that was the case chances are Toronto would be giving up more than they should be and it would be a bad deal from their side of things.
