Thread: Martinez
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SmoothMcCrimmonal</b></div><div>I think a swap including Toffoli (who I wanted when him wanting out of Calgary was reported) and Martinez could make sense. I just think there's too many things that would need to fall into place for the Knights to need to move out Martinez. A 23 man roster has 851k cap space, with one Pachal sent down it's up to 1.625M which is enough for Vegas to fit in Toffoli as the last man on the roster with enough retention. To me in order for there to be a need to move him there needs to either be retention hardball or another coinciding move for another player going to Vegas (Lindholm? Hanifin? Guentzel? etc) making enough to need Martinez's cap space. Then the problem with the second scenario is how much are they giving up to make all that work? Probably at least 2 1sts and maybe one of the teams better remaining prospects, which begs the questions is all that worth it for a bunch of players that probably at most one can be kept unless Stephenson or Marchessault is walking as well? It strikes me as unnecessarily all-in for a team that just won the cup with the most significant TDL move made being Dean for Barbashev (keeping all currently owned 1sts).

I could just be making this more nuanced than it realistically will end up being, but for these reasons are why I say I don't think the worthwhile move to send Martinez out is out there and he'll remain through the end of the season (but it wouldn't be the first time our front office did something we couldn't make sense of).</div></div>

Absolutely fair. Personally I’d be willing to send Toffoli retained out for just futures and see if I can flip them to another team for a dman (my personal target is Pettersson)
