They have brannstrom ready now, the kid they drafted last year and the one who starred for team canada last year in u20. Plus they might take a D with the isles pick. Docker is expendable. Also probably not a top 4 guy.

To a point. Jost netting a 2nd and a blah prospect is about right. Cole for a future 2nd is probably close too. Only about 5 to 10% of 2nd rd pi ks make it. And Ottawa is getting 2 legit nhl players.
I moved cole to sign names and to get byram in the line up

That's a Great question, and I have no answer. I would think 7 to 8m per. Yes it's a lot on both sides. Kerfoot they have a couple years yet and hes a solid mid 6 guy who I believe will produce with established players, and Barrie, it's all up to them to sign him. But adding kerfoot and Barrie to that team makes them alot better. And we get nylander who I believe will do wonder in Colorado and is on a really solid contract. I dont think just Barrie gets it done. But if we get a top 2 pick, your adding that to replace kerfoot anyways which imo will be a better player longer term. Makar will replace Barrie. Take the production hit next year as both makar and willie grow into the team

also, the max you can pay makar is 925k on an ELC and you also have to pay greer and toninato more. since they are rfa's that made between $660k and $1M last season you need to pay them at least 1.05 times as much as they made on their last contract</div></div>
Awesome I did not know that about system players.
The RFAs I went off the calculator they have on the site. What they got was the number they spit out.

It's an idea. I think Barrie for kadri would be on the right track but taking hortons contract to free up money now for Matthew's and marner I think would be worth it. But it's an idea

Hes the one I would sign. Stone is great defensively and plays a hell of a 200ft game. Think of a faster younger Blake wheeler.
Kadri would be a great addition. 1) great contact 2) he fixes the C position. While we develop Bowers and who ever we draft 3) grit 4) him and stone potentially together they could pot 75 goals between them. He imo would make us competitive against Winnipeg and Nashville if not better. And Horton is just to eat the salary and Toronto needs cap space. Kadri might be over looked in Toronto but he was a beast last year and the year before in playoffs. And that's what we need.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>If you think Rantanen would accept 9M*8years, why haven't they signed it already?
I mean, maybe he slumps, or gets hurt, and that's all he gets, sure. It does leave lots of cap space.
I mean, you still have cap space for Kadri and Stone if he signs at 12M, but it seems like, if Toronto fans are already talking about minimum 11M AAV for Matthews and Marner, and Rantanen seems to momentarily have more points than either.... so that's something to be prepared for.</div></div>
Because his agent said nothing will be signed until the summer. Matthew's should and will get paid the most because he's a better player than rant and marner. I think rant will get between 9 to 10, for 7 to 8 years.

Possibly add a winger... but it could be very expansive. The you get into cap problems. I didn't add trades either, mainly because I think if someone is moved (soderberg or tb4) it will be a futures deal not a hockey deal at this point.

William nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>So what I gather from this is that if we sign nylander at 7.5m for 8 years a trade for Rantanen straight up must be too good of a deal to pass up right? Save you 600k on the first 5 years and 2-4m on the last 3 years. Since nylander is just as good as Rantanen and you were willing to sheet him for 5 years. I somehow doubt your fan base would accept this trade. Probably about as well as rantanen’s agent would accept this contract you’re trying to ram down his throat.
There is a reason sheets don’t happen. The management of every NHL team has a vested interest in what Toronto does with nylander. They like that Toronto isn’t caving and offering more than he’s worth. Keeps comparables low. If you give rfa’s the upper hand of being sheeted all the time teams will be hasty to get deals done. Which will lead to bloated contracts which then leads to teams not being able to sign their own players coming off of elc’s.
If nylander were looking for 6-7m long term and the leafs were trying to low ball him in term or money, than an offersheet might be realistic.</div></div>
On nylander offer sheet the max deal for a 1st 2nd and 3rd is 8.1aav for 5 years. Anymore it's 4 1sts or something like that. I think anywhere between 6 to 7 maybe 7.5 Toronto matches. But 8.1, IMO will make them seriously think. Marner and matthews will be close to 20m combind. 8.1 is high, but its "free agency" in a sense. And you constricted by length. But also your taking a great piece away from a competitor for cheap.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>WIth eight free agents next summer, leaving 4M of cap space is costly. Adding a twenty goal scorer is nice, but that cap hit is prohibitive. It means Varlamov, Nemeth, and Wilson are all gone next summer. Depending how Grubauer handles an increasing work load this year, that might be fine.
That gives them 16M to give raises to Rantanen, Zadorov, Kerfoot, Compher, Dano, Kamenev, and Andrighetto, plus sign a decent goalie. Figure Rantanen gets an 8.1M raise to 9M, zadorov gets a 4M raise to 6.5M, and they're left with 4M to give raises to Kerfoot, Compher, Dano, Kamenev, and Andrighetto, and find a backup goalie. If each of those guys can be extended around 1.5M, and they're not picky about a backup, it can work. But that all assumes Rantanen doesn't take another big step forward this year. If Rantanen, with 29 goals and 83 points last year, gets to use an 8M contract to 20 goal 61 point winger W. Nylander as a comparable, though, all bets are off.</div></div>
It's 8m is comparable for both. Look at the numbers.

The OTT 1st is gold right now. It should be a top 10 pick and that player might be top 6 ready in 2 years. If it's top 5 maybe in a year. But the 2 1sts we have should rpund out our top 9 nicely
