Don't understand this from the Sabres perspective. Sure Byram is great, but they already have Dahlin and Power... They must be reasonably confident that one of those three will work well on their off side.

Jets get tanev
Imagine how good the Jets would be if they didn't suck at drafting between 2016 and 2019.... Stanley, Vesalainen, Gustafsson, Heinola, Lundmark all picked in the first two rounds and none of them look like anything special.
Anyway, Flames don't want to take your spare parts, offer needs to be more quality, less quantity.

trade
I just feel that Calgary is probably looking for a centre prospect that has top 6 upside in one of their next trades.
If there isn't one in the Tanev/Markstrom deal then there has to be one coming back for Hanifin.
I still think keeping Marky to mentor Wolf is the best option.

(CGY/VAN) - Lindholm for Kuzmenko, Brzustewicz, Jurmo, 2024 1st (VAN), 2024 4th (VAN)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WranglerWranglin</b></div><div>I think you’re underselling Lindholm’s surroundings. He has to play against the other teams best every night with no support on his wings. The Canucks will have Lindholm is sweet heart matchups and he will guaranteed have a better second half than he has first half. I think the Flames got a really really good deal but I think the Canucks just significantly improved their line up as well.</div></div>

Ranger to the cup
I would definitely consider this as the Flames. Kakko has shown flashes of the talent that got him drafted 2OA but obviously not consistently.
Being 6'3" means he isn't projected to hit his breakout threshold until 400 NHL games.
Flames can afford to be more patient and give him better deployment than the Rangers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>I think if Lindholm does wind up leaving Calgary they -just might- consider trading him for PLD but it wouldn't be straight up </div></div>
My thinking was that Calgary would rather have the younger PLD at 8.5m than extending Lindy into his late thirties at a similar number.
Take a gamble and put him next to Hubey and hope the French connection pays off.

what do you guys think
Bottom 6 forwards don't have much trade value, as they are much easier to find in free agency.
Flames would be asking for players like Korczak or Dorofeyev, young players with high upside.

TDL Merry-Go-Round
Oilers add a seasoned top-6 forward in Guentzal, and a young defence project in POJ.
Costs them high picks to acquire and also dump an underperforming Ceci's contract.
Sens add a veteran right-shot D to help shelter their young d-corps and get picks to aid with the continued rebuild.
Manage to recoup a significant amount of the acquisition cost of Chychrun too.
Pens sell high on Guentzel knowing they cant afford to resign him and get a young, cost-controlled Chychrun. Holloway is a project but could benefit from better deployment in Pittsburgh than he's getting in Edmonton. If Dubas likes Lavoie/Bourgault then these could be substituted pretty easily.

Gibson to New Jersey
I mean, short of sending round some boys with metal pipes to his house to break his legs, they probably couldn't.
Off course LTIR can't be done without players consent.
Was more just a comment on him missing a lot of games over the last few seasons, so the Devils might at least have the conversation with him. At least with LTIR, he gets all his money over just retiring if the body won't hold up.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GeneralLandro</b></div><div>We certainly are not taking in Palat and his contract</div></div>
He has a full no move clause, unlikely he waives, definitely not midseason anyway.
Only way Palat leaves the Devils is if they give him a choice between LTIRetirement or getting traded to play elsewhere in the offseason.

I saved the krakens season
Probably enough for Hanifin, not quite there for Lindholm, definitely not close to getting both.
Deal for both with 50% retention would have to be something along the lines of Evans + Firkus + Wright/Sale + 1st rounder.
Calgary potentially interested in someone like Tolvanen as a more ready-now roster player if they look to retool over fully committing to a rebuild.
Have to remember that by dealing within the division, Flames severely hamper their own playoff chances both now and in the future, so this would require a significant price premium.

Center Depth
A little light for Lindholm. Winterton and Nelson look OK as supplementary pieces, but the centepiece of the deal is really the first round pick.
If Seattle wants to be taken seriously then the Flames will be asking about one/two of Shane Wright, Carson Rehkopf, Jagger Firkus, or Eduard Sale.
Flames will get better offers than this one, and the divisional rival tax is real.
