What would be his market value then? I love that contract and we have a desperate need for a right handed centre

Caps need to win a cup and this deal helps them. Lapierre has a scary injury history so good luck trying to find a team that wants him back as the primary piece.

The thing is you're not giving up Bastian and a 4th for Dunn, Dumba, and Bean. Schmidt could possibly be the best bang for your buck out on the market. Also everyone on the Canucks had a bad season. I wouldn't look too much into player results for anyone on their team.

Bastian played centre in the minors. I'm sure he could step in as a 4C.

Seattle likely isn't going to be competetive right away and the Skjei contract has potential to be ugly in a few years. A cheaper Foegele makes much more sense from a Seattle perspective</div></div>

I think Bastian represents more of what we are trying to build in our bottom six

Definitely not. Schmidt is a top four dman and Bastian hasn't proved enough in the NHL and likely won't be protected.

They get a guy a year younger and another pick. For a rebuilding team, Robinson is likely expendable

Good to know. I thought hard on including DiPietro but a 1st plus him is a steep price. Not saying I personally wouldn't do it but it is a lot.

I can tell you aren't a Canucks fan or know anything about our team when you call those two prospects nothing. Most Canuck fans will hate me for suggesting we trade Lockwood who has all the tools to become a middle six energizer bunny and Karlsson is currently a point per game in the Allsvenskan which is the highest for a U21 player. Do your research next time

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pavelisgoat</b></div><div>I’m not a fan of the Bertuzzi trade for either side really. Bertuzzi doesn’t push the Vancouver team we’ve seen this year over the top, plus injury concerns now. Detroit doesn’t see enough value in the return either with that first being top ten protected, at least from my point of view believing that Bert is a solid guy in that room and on the ice when healthy.</div></div>
Mantha was a solid guy in the room and even better on the ice and he was dealt... Bertuzzi is a year older. Vancouver likely isn't going to be a bottom ten team next year anyways so the protection is extra insurance. Adding another top six forward for this Canucks team will do wonders.

Left shot or right shot, Benn plays both sides

Retool part 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bb1983</b></div><div>I like all your trades, I don't see why either team does the Pearson/Raanta trade though. A much simpler Pearson (w/retention) for a pick is probably more realistic.</div></div>
Elliotte Friedman reported the interest from Arizona in a potential Pearson trade and with them being somewhat of a poverty franchise I could see them wanting to unload salary while staying competitive. Adin Hill is more then capable of taking the backup role behind Kuemper. With the salaries evening out I can see the Canucks getting a better haul of picks.

Benn to Edmonton was a strict depth move, that trade can pretty much be to any team but I chose Edmonton because they were in the Canadian division. As a Canucks fan based on the Virtanen Heinen rumours I would think they want a player back of similar calibre. Canucks would also like to clear Virtanen's cap off the books so maybe a player like Khaira but there likely would be a plus from either side.
